Hi, I have created a small site a few days ago, and am promoting it with Adwords. So far the keyword prices are very reasonable. I'm wondering, does the quality score now come into play from the very moment the campaign is activated. Or, will it take a few days for my site to be spidered before Google decides on how worthy it is and how much they adjust the charge for my keywords. Just trying to figure out if when setting up campaigns I can expect to continue with the initial keyword bid prices, or cross my fingers for a few days! Cheers
initial prices are generally expensive. Overtime as your ctr improves you will see the price drop down
Let's say my bid prices started at 7 cents. Then went to 10 bucks. Then I "optimized" my page so that Google "approves" of it. How long till my bid prices go down?
Interesting, so in the beginning Google will assume my site is unworthy and charge me more initially until the site and Adwords CTR proves itself. My CTR is intentionally fairly low on these ads as the copy is written to stop tire-clickers coming through. The copy is relevant to my site content, but it sounds like this saving in clicks is going to come back to bite me when Google jacks up my bid prices due to low CTR. Ouch.
it doesnt really work like that... I highly recomend you guys read the docs within the adwords training stuff cause it will explain it much better then I could. The just of it boils down to you need to have a good ctr ACCOUNT WIDE then you wont see the jackass 10$ clicks.
I've always understood that Google gives a new ad the benefit of the doubt in terms of CTR. The price/position will respond to the actual CTR within a time scale of a few days though.
I have a good CTR account wide but some of the sites that got hit with the $10 minimums had well above average CTR. I have put up some new sites that depend on free articles, most have minimums around $0.05 but one got minimums of $5 and $10 per click. There is still a bit of mystery involved and I'd hate to ask Google because if I ask why one site is $0.05 and the other is $5, they might just make the both $10 minimum. Yeah, I am a little paranoid that way.
can you post the url and keyword that is jumping on you? Generally in this case I have found the page was pretty irrelevent for the keyword
How are they rating the qulity of a landing page? The google docs I have found are very vague. It seems like they don't like my landing pages and I've been getting alot of hikes in my CPC, even ones with a decent CTR. I want to go and improve the quality of my landing pages but for 1 I don't know what they are looking for as far as quality goes, I mean its relevant to the keyword and 2 once I have imporved the quality how do I let google know I've imporved it?
If I have some slow days with low CTR will this affect my keyword price? Say for example I identify that weekends are not working well for a particular campaign. Obviously the odd conversion is still nice to get, but if my CTR is low for a day or two and has the possibility of jacking up my CPC am I best to forfeit those few sales and pause my Adwords account instead?
