Crazy & Fun Logo Contest $75 prize

I need a new logo for one of my projects, Crotchety Coffee. I'd like it to fit within a round or square shape (doesn't need to be in a circle or square, but I don't want something long and narrow). The design should be FUN! Feel free to go wild with it. For anyone who does not know the word 'Crotchety' - it means someone who is very unpleasant (grumpy), and often frowns a lot and is mean. I'd like something that would be outside the corporate norm. Something that has an 'old' or nostalgic flavor may be good as well. An illustration with a character would likely be best, although I'm open to anything.

It should also have a transparent background for web use, as well as looking good when printed in black and white. Size should be good for putting on a t-shirt, or reduced for on the coffee packaging. The words should be done with a font that you'll also send, so that I can change the wording if needed.

Preferable formats are psd and jpg.

Assuming I get some good entries, the contest will end on Monday November 9 at 6pm Eastern time. I will send comments on the entries and will give an itrader rating on completion.

Payment will be made via paypal.
    Prize is $75.00

Misa, it's best to post here. I have some partners who can look at the thread, without me having to email them.

I'll post some comments about the submissions soon. I want to get the partners' feedback also.

    Thanks.

Fujimoto just so you know I actually designed that bum and sold it to a free logo site. So I wouldn't recommend using that as your entry :)

Not to mention using clipart/stock from free logo & stock sites is clearly in violation of their user agreement. As well as opens the CH up for future law suits. Copyright / trademark law is more serious of an issue than some people think.

Thanks for pointing that out gfxpr0, do you happen to have a link to it? :)

Less is more for a logo.

This is a two minute sketch.
If you like it let me know and I'll do a "polished" version for you.

Ticks all your boxes - works well in b/w can print onto a Tshirt easily, works for web,
and can be adapted for a campaign (he/she could easily have any expression - amazed, pleased, shocked etc).

Sake7 - Interesting, but not quite enough character to it.

fujimoto - after the other comments, I don't think I could use it, but the guy looks more confused than crotchety anyway.

scorpionagency - sorry, but not nearly mean enough, and not really that funny.

sabosushimi - sorry, but no humor or 'crotchetyness' to it.

MiniMonty - so far, I like yours best. I would like to see a bit more detail to it, but it does have the right attitude.

vivideye.ca - I don't think it has either humor or mean to it...

When putting these together, please try to look at the design as being amusing enough that someone may see it in a store and actually be willing to pay $25 for a tshirt with that design on it or $15 for a pound of coffee that will amuse their friends when they bring it home. For this product, the logo needs to stand on it's own as a product.

Thank you for all the entries. I'm trying to give feedback to everyone. Please remember, it should combine humor as well as something indicating a grumpy person (crotchety usually refers to someone a bit older as well).

ScorpionAgency - sorry, but I'm just not crazy about the style of it.

vivideye - Good at first glance, but it needs more pizazz

Sake7 - The mouth doesn't look like a mouth to me. It doesn't really have enough expression.

Hemp, sorry but it is too simple, and sad rather than crotchety.

Flare97 not bad, but I'm not sure people would realize that is a coffee cup in the picture.

l3fty - My partner likes it, I'd prefer more detail in the face. Also, can the words be easily changed?

MantisArt - Good, but I think the face needs to be a little more obvious on the cup.
