I started the site at the end of april 2009, I have invested just under $1000 in advertizing and sponsorship, the first three months (with my promotion work) have been very slow because it is simply just another digg-like site, many of which have failed because of spam and their webmasters giving up too early on. I was predicting that I would earn back the money invested by the end of the year. But after 4 months the traffic and members have really picked up progressively and in fact I've already recovered the money, just for the month of october the earnings were above $1,200! Google willing, the month of november should be at least $1,600 and the christmas month.. well, we'll see I heartly recommend creating a digg-like site, but be prepared to work on it almost daily at first, and to have almost no organic traffic for the first months. One tip: the adsense revenue sharing program and the referral program I've set up have been very important for the success of this site. Without them I'd never receive this amount of traffic and membership. For instance, I can read many good reviews of my site, but this is because the author puts his/her referral link in the article. Otherwise nobody except me would be talking about my site. So be prepared to create an adsense revenue sharing program as well as a referral program.
