Well, I doubt anyone could answer that question. The value you be getting from the sale depends on the price which is agreed upon by the buyer and seller.

I think it is best to get a proper hosting because your problem has nothing to do with the domain name but with the hosting. From what we see, this might be your first attempt.

Why do you think you will lose money?
    It isn't a bad domain. :)
If you sell it for more than 3.90, then you'd make money.

If your buyer wants to transfer the domain to his own godaddy account, there is no charge. You simply push the domain into his account.

If your buyer insists on transferring to a diferrent registrar, then he pay his registrar fees to initiate the transfer.

Don't pay to get it appraised, those are almost always scams

A domain is worth what someone is willing to spend on it.

You seem to be concerned about paying transfer fees, don't worry.
Godaddy was a good choice, and your total risk is what you already spent.
    What's not going well?
    Did you build a site?

I built up a forum using MyBB and I had it totally ready to go, so I bought a domain name, and I regitered my IP to it and when someone types in the domain they have to log in to my NETGEAR something or other. So that is what is not going well.

So you were planning on hosting this domain on your home box?

The most you are going to lose is what you paid. If you sell it for anything you lose that much less. You may have to hold it 60 days before it can be transferred.

Also if you know what you are doing and have you linux box seperate from you home system I THINK you can set up the box as a server and protect the rest of your LAN. That is my son's field and I don't follow most of it. :)

If you get it appraised you will also lose the cost of the appraisal. That seems to me like throwing good money after bad, as there's almost never any point in getting an appraisal.

Why not try and get it hosted? If you do not have much money, GoDaddy allows you to pay for shared hosting in 2 month increments, or month to month. Surely you can scrape up 4 dollars a month to give it a try.

Dont give up dude, you are almost there. =)
