What do you think is the best technique to make a forum and make money from it? Heres my stratagy, is there anything better or something I should change?

    1. Go to another forum related to mine. Hope they have adbrite then click "adveritse here" beside there banner.
    2. Add some content, then buy a banner for 10 cents per CMP, Thats 10k views for $1.
    3. Then add some adsense.

    Hows that?

Not a worthy way to make some money through Forum. you have to promote the forum, and getting huge amount of regular visitors.

Simply creating and campaigning in adbrite won't work for making money through it.

agreed. Its really difficult to start up a new forum. In the beginning, I had to register a few accounts and talk to myself to kick things off! Nothing turns people away faster then an empty forum.

BTW since you already have a forum, you can try to pull people from other forums related to yours. Just be discreet about it. You can place a link in your signature.

Just visit the other forums and place a signature link when you post to them. That is one of the ways you can divert visitors from the forum they are visiting to the one which you want them to visit.

    1. Go to another forum related to mine. Hope they have adbrite then click "adveritse here" beside there banner.
This will not work coz the website owner will not accept the competitive ads.

    2. Add some content, then buy a banner for 10 cents per CMP, Thats 10k views for $1.
The quality matter, its useless to get traffic from non targeted traffic although the ads cost is low.

    3. Then add some adsense.
Yes its working but try use other ads to complement each other.

about number 1, it does work, because I know a lot of sites that just approve there adds automaticly. They don't have to approve them. :) Only some websites need to be approved ads first. :p

    @macdonjo,

Adding ads really won't do much if you don't have the content to support it. Alot of forum sites are caused from having something that relates to the user. The easiest way for a forum to run itself and to make money off it is as follows:

    - Stick to a subject which is highly searched, and/or is a major issue, group that is commonly used.
    - Do something a little different with it. If its the same old forum that everyone else uses, then you wont pull in the people. Offer a little more to is. Example, if you had a focused forum on Ford vehicles, have a sub section that talks about Ford vs Dodge, Ford vs Chevy, Ford vs Honda. Creating a debate also allows spiders to suck out keywords that your using, this improving your content.
-Everyone is right about having to basically start talking to yourself...but don't make it look like your talking to yourself. Have an Antagonist, and some others on there, basically if you can create forum drama, and it starts hooking people will see theres a community. Eventually, people will start linking it.
-Advertise, advertise, advertise. Forum Signatures, Email Signatures, even google adsense will do you just. Honestly though the best way I found to do advertisement is start hosting a little bit of other content to get the initial drive. I have a forum setup reguarding World of Warcraft, I started to link images of other video game glitches, and put watermarks...then people start exploring from watermarks... bam, you got some new people.

You at least need to make sure its an engaging forum. If you don't have enough members then you better be in there discussing things and bringing life into it yourself.
