I only write about topics that interest me. Monitoring keywords which give the greatest returns is not for me. I have to learn something when i write an blog post otherwise i will just be wasting my time.
For big projects atleast 1000-1500 searches a day on yahoo, so i can expect 2000-3000 on google and 500-800 on msn and planning to make 5000-10000$ a month. For little niche website about 500 daily searches and planning to make 500-1000$ a month.
You expect to generate 5000-10000$ a month from search volume of 160,000? What marketshare do you target? What is your expected CTR?
I agree that analysis is important and should be done. On the other hand, simply selecting the right niche is only part of having a successful money-making website. Furthermore, predicting human behavior is very difficult. Therefore, experimentation is the only real way to determine whether an idea will be successful. Fortunately, experimentation is cheap and easy on the web. So, some analysis, some gut-feel, mixed with a lot of experimentaton is the best strategy - in my opinion, based on my own experience.
I wrote down my interests (stuff I know I could easily write about), then went to google.com/sponsoredlinks? and started sites that had more than ten pages of sponsors listed.
I am really astonished that nearly nobody does it more analytical. I actually expected on a forum like this, which is about making money, there would be more than "gut-feel". I don't want to be offensive, but this has got nothing to with a strategy.
Is it like this? Usually there is a lot of tips and advice on this forum. If I would have found appropriate information somewhere I wouldn't have asked my questions. It would be very kind of you, that in case you know any resources offhand, to share this information with me. Thanks in advance.
I look for a niche where it is easy to get traffic from outside of search engines. Otherwise it takes a while before any traffic starts coming to the site.
Hi i recently started mesothelioma site and i will see how much money can i earn in a day with mesothelioma site. I would be happy with 20 $ a day.
MarcCP, You're so right A few of my sites have been players in a very large market with high paying keywords. It's difficult to get noticed, because there is A LOT of competition and search engine rankings can be quite unpredictable - because of the influx of new websites everyday PLUS the fact that millions and millions of websites have been indexed by each search engine - finding your own place within it can become a nightmare. My newest site will operate in a "niche". I looked at 4 things: 1. number of sites indexed for the keywords i am targetting in the major search engines - gives you an idea of the strength of the competition. 2. CPC of the keyword 3. number of times the keyword is searched 4. plus a good analysis of the kind of features required in the site in order to fare well with the visitors. i.e. CONTENT! existing sites that are on top of the SEs can be of help here, you can pick the best features from each
assuming the link in your signature is the site you're talking about, why is each link pointing back to the main domain! are there no other pages? the nav on the right does point to some different sections but there is no where else to go from there.
I hate kids so no Music, celphone or fansites for me. Business sites paying well and sites for people in higher education.
Geez...these mesothelioma MFA sites are just killing me.. really, If I were a Google member, I would just delete+ban domain + ban personal info (under your domain) so you never buy a domain again nor hosting... if you make just MFA, god damn just think about one hour to write something by your own... I just keep thinking with the mind of a sick.. who has this disease..he or she is thinking that finally thats a good site and check all the ads, one by one, finally they find MFAs again.. Should make an organization for killing all MFA sites.. no matter if its adsense, ypn, adbrite..I'd love to work for the organization.
As far as I can see, are you an exception to the rule. Everybody else seems to have more trust in feelings than in an analysing a market. Sounds a bit esoteric. How many searches would you consider as sufficient for your new project? Of what size has a niche to be, in order for a worthwhile project?
Marc, not to be offensive, but I suggest you try your analytic strategy and see how it works for you. Everyone is different. It may work for you but not for others. Personally, I have tried a version of your strategy and came up with niches that have no personal interest to me whatsoever (cervical cancer, dog health, psp games, etc.). If I am going to spend a few hours each day, every day, adding and updating content to a site that has no interest to me, the site won't last very long -- and it will never be a success. I suggest you try it both ways and see which works best for you.
stackman, good point. You are right, the analytical isn't sufficient. Doing so would have consequences as you described them very compelling. My point of view towards niches is, to combine both factors as far as possible: interest in a subject and the market conditions. In case that I have several fields of interest it would be adviseable to work on the one with the best prospects instead of one without a market or without the chance to sruvive on that market.
