A: Servers are located either in Tucson, AZ or Colorado Springs, CO. Currently we're near capacity in Tucson AZ so all new orders will go into the Colorado Springs facility.
All plans come with a base of 5Mbps of billable bandwidth on a 100Mbps port. Additional bandwidth is always available and you can customize added at the time of order. (or upgraded later). Thanks!
What is the initial bandwidth that come with all the server your offer? 5TB? I'm interested to try a 5mbps premium bandwidth as I need to see the speed etc.
5Mbps is what comes with each server by default, we don't do bucket billing aka total data transferred billing.
Ok I get it now. I have to look on your billing panale though. But its nice as you offer 5mbps unmetered bandwidth on 100mbps port Again to make everyone clear with this information. Many hosting providers calculate Bandwidth Usage by the gigabyte. SPEAKservers takes a different approach, which we feel provides a better value to our customers. We calculate Bandwidth Usage on the 95th Percentile, which is to say that we take samples throughout the month and discard the highest 5% of those samples. With this method, our customers are allowed to let their traffic usage "burst" if needed for a short time without going into overage! It is also worth noting that SPEAKservers DOES NOT oversubscribe our resources, unlike other providers. What this means to you is that you will always have access to your committed bandwidth, even if you don't use it regularly. But another things come in my mind. How do you limit this? As it says you allow it to burst. Let say I get 5mbps then I can use up to 100mbps eg: If the server is an active upload/download server (file storage) but then I have to pay for the overage fees if I use more than 5mbps allocated for me? How much for block of IP do you have price for this?
correct, if your 95%ile usage for the month is over 5Mbps you pay for whatever the overage may be in 1Mbps increments. However if you know you are going to go above your usage consistently then you can contact our sales department to up your commit bandwidth for a lot cheaper than overage costs. This is to make sure we always have enough bandwidth from our upstream providers, SPEAKservers utilizes a 3:1 ratio on available bandwidth vs used/committed bandwidth. This means that we will always have available bandwidth no matter how many people are "bursting" at the same time. You get 1 IP per server, additional IPs are $1/mo/ea. All IPs are clean and have reverse DNS capability through our control panel.
