How can a site raise it's Alexa ranking? How can a site like harmony-central.com have a high Alexa ranking and yet not be ranked for any major music related keyphrases? Does simply good content raise rankings?
The Alexa rank is related to traffic volume. That site has been online since 1995, so ranking high for competetive terms isn't as necessary for them as it is for newer sites.
Why do you want to raise it for? It does not mean anything and has no bearing on search engine rankings.
Harmony-Central may get it's traffic from other sites sites and not need to rely strictly on organic results. Most reputable sites don't rely strictly on organic results (don't put all your eggs in one basket) ....... if Google changes it's algorithms, it could re-arrange the top results and the #1 result could drop to lower pages. Therefore, it's good to have other sources of traffic (which is what I assume Harmony-Central has). Just my 2 cents Jeff
A lot of people buy traffic to raise their alexa and then sell on the sites. But I think people are catching onto this method.
Alexa ranking is not a reliable traffic measure for any website. the Alexa Rank is based on the level of traffic each website receives from the number of people who visit a website with the Alexa toolbar installed.
