To me, it doesn't make any difference. What is more important is how you carry out your seo strategy later part.

No difference for .net or .com in SEO. But .net could spell the death knell of your business, unless you own both. ;-)

When people remember the name of your website and type it into their browser, they will almost always type .com instead of .net. So, if you are a .net person, you could be giving a lot of traffic to your competition.

    FORGET SEO

What you REALLY want is ROI

... this is really too simple - don't compromise - use the dashes if you have to. Google accepts this as if they're not even there.

Just BE SURE to get a dot-com!

most people click a link rather than type so it doesnt matter re the hyphen.

and since most people cant spell maybe the can-you-spell method of address is better.

as for .com, what a lot of nonsense. One just notices .com more because there are more of them.

dont worry about the suffix, just get the name you want. If it happens to be only available as a .net or .info, who cares.

    see ya

According to Matt Cutts (you know, the guy who runs the Google engine?), NO DOMAIN TLD is special (if I may add, for the international google).

It's hard for me to tell as I've seen some .net sites rank better than .com sites and vice versa. I would just go with the .com domain since it's more memorable and more common.

Ok...errrr... so let me get this straight..

First you say a .com is superior because it is easy to remember.
Then you also say a .com is better for SEO, presumably because of this reason.

Since when has remembering a domain name got remotely anything to do with SEARCH ENGINE optimization?

The clue is in the first two words.

Why dont people actually THINK about what they are saying before trying to give advice.
I aint bothered because I know youre talking rubbish, but a newbie might actually think you know what you are talking about and act on your advice.

Both are equal for SEO. But try to use .com domain which can be remember by everyone. :)

I think there's no big deal if the domain extension name is .com or .net. The question is how to market your site using that domain.

This is pretty much it. The domain TLD doesnt matter in the eyes of the search engine but a .com is more rememberable in the minds of the surfing population. Also the hyphens int he domain , unless appropriately placed and not overused, people have trouble remembering the position of the hyphen.

Either works. Hyphens are bad for humans not search engines. It really is all about brandability and what people can remember.

:) so what is the harm him being 1001. well actually he knows what he is doing, making me and you reply to it..com is for commercial domains and .net is for networks. for SEO both deserve the fundamental right to get SEO ed and also rank high.
