I am thinking of getting traffic for one of my new websites through PPC. Can you please suggest the best cost effective strategy for this?

Also what is the best way to track the source of the traffic to the website, for testing the cost effectiveness?

Google conveniently provides easy integration of Google Adwords data with their Analytics program, allowing you to track results of your Adwords pay-per-click campaigns through Analytics. If you have sponsored listings on Yahoo, Bing, or any other paid search program, you will have to do a bit of customization in order to supply the same data about these additional PPC (Pay-Per-Click) programs to Analytics.

Google analytics (free) tracks PPC traffic so you can separate organic and paid traffic.

In addition to using GA(thats the way to go), you should also setup conversion tracking(wether it be a sale, signup, download or whatever your goals are) within Adwords. Just add the snippet of html to the confirmation page..

Yes, I would also recommend Google Analytics in conjunction with conversion tracking to know you are converting. Remember, if you have a website that relies on customers calling in rather than filling out a form you will be not be able to track any conversions from your ppc advertising.

It depends if your landing page is yours or if you can place the tracking pixel.

Can you place a pixel or is it for an affiliate offer that you can't get to the post conversion page?

Google analytics or Adwords tracking is good if you can place the pixel but you need something else if you can't.

I use stats junky for my affiliate campaigns. It's a little pricey up front but they do offer a seven day free trial.

    Cheers,
    Corey

Corey, I was asking about tracking affiliate products. I have heard earlier about stats junky but I have not used it.
Do you recommend it ? Do you know of any other similar software?

    Buddy, you need to Prosper202.
Go and Host the Version on your server, it works as easy as 1 - 2 - 3.

I personally use there free tracking202 ( Prosper202 ) Version which can be hosted on our own server

My advice - don't bother, Google is hammering affiliates on Adwords at the moment, you'll just end up wasting money and time:

How can you offer this advice w/o even seeing the website in question? PPC for Affiliate sites is still a profitable business model. If using Adwords, Authority sites can be developed to give G exactly what they are looking for. If using any one of the PPC alternatives, bridge pages can still work.

There's a world of traffic outside of Adwords and a million ways to effectively drive traffic.

The question wasn't about other alternatives, it was about ADWORDS. He also said it was for a new site, therefore no authority.
So, basically, both of your points are moot.
