I have just finished reading a book on landing pages. It said reducing the text, using bullet points, having your opt-in above the fold, and risk reducers were all very important. Our team has added all of these. The keywords are exact matches, and I duplicate a new landing page for every keyword, with only the title and a few h1 tags changed. The page is loading quickly, and is 100% validated by w3 validator. My quality score is a 2. How can I raise this? Have I been flagged? There are no incoming links to this page, its in a hidden part of the site that we are not SEO'ing. Is this important? What other factors are contributing? For*mosaMe*dicalTr*avel.com/campaign/total-knee-replacement-surgery.php Remove the *'s and thanks for checking!
What is your CTR like on the keywords? This is a huge factor in assigning quality score to a keyword. Anything lower than 1% could damage QS. Also, account history has a bit impact on QS. How long you have been displaying activity. Google is more likely to give a higher QS to keywords that have been active for a long time, over new ones.
Download my Adwords FAQ for details too long to show here. Essentially, work on improving your ads to get higher CTR. I don't believe account history has a big, if any, impact on QS as James suggests. Old vs new keyword or account has no impact as well. You just have to do things right and have ads that get clicked on.
Why do you keep talking about CTR? When you get a QS of 2/10 do you think he's getting any Impressions or Clicks.... no. He's asking how to get his QS higher so he can get impressions and clicks without paying an arm and a leg for. I've been trying to figure this question out myself. If I figure it out, I'll let you know.
For one page I had, for one keyword my CTR was 25%, but google only gave me a QS of 3/10. How do you fix that?
Do have a footer By which I mean do you have terms of use, private policy, blog, articles, about us pages on your site. Google is all about providing the best user experience y'know. Do your keywords appear in the landing page much? How tight are your adgroups? For instance Product X Product X review Product X Scam Product X feedback would constitute a tight adgroup. If you enter a new keyword or new campaign, Google gives you a avg. QS based on how other advertisers QS for that keyword. So if a good percentage of advertisers had 4/10-6/10 for that keyword, you'll get the same until you get your own Impressions and Clicks then Google will change your QS based on your information. So in short, Google Slaps newbies until you get your own stats. So in short, watch the keywords you use, because the other advertisers that made it such a low QS is screwing you.
I agree. Anytime you read about google quality score these are the main things that are mentioned. Also, a site map is highly recommended. good luck
Thoughts about what ? how to raise the quality of of a low keyword ? been trying to say for a while here if your keyword relevance is poor or your land page is poor then you may as well howl at the moon as no amount of cash or ctr is going to fix it. you simply need to delete any poor keywords if relevance id = poor and if your land page is poor you may as well delete the campaign unless you all like bashing your head against a wall and wasting your money.
Or the other, non-google-is-evil-conspiracy way to think about it is that Google gives you a QS boost rather than starting you at zero when you have no CTR history for that keyword.
Review this landing page and tell me what you think: For*mosaMe*dicalTr*avel.com/campaign/total-knee-replacement-surgery.php What are we doing wrong? Thanks
Your page has no content... You need to at least put a few keyword rich paragraphs. Where it says "Our services include" maybe you should do a short paragraph explaining each service with a little more detail about your Knee Replacement Surgery services (im guessing thats your main keyword). You need at least 400 words on your landing page. Attach a blog to your site or add an article directory, you might need more footer links.
I'm not really getting this at all. Sure - these are all good points for making your site well optimized for organic results. But we're talking about Adwords - paying Google tons of cash to run a simple little ad in the sidebar - to link to a strictly commercial, no-bones-about-it money-making endeavor. Why in the world should it make any difference to Google if I have a blog? Or 400 words? Or an article directory? If I have a product for sale that is exactly what the Web searcher is looking for - isn't that all that matters?
wordcounterwiz: Thats the problem. All these things SHOULDN'T matter to google. But it does, and because google makes all the rules, you gotta obey or get slapped. They dont care, even if the product is EXACTLY what the searcher has been looking for. Google's only concern is protecting their good name. They look at things from a "We gotta make sure we cover our butts legally" point of view, although they have gotten a little out of control with the "quality control" factor.
Lazy's right about the content - you do need a few hundred words of unique content, including your keywords, but you don't need this stuff: "Attach a blog to your site or add an article directory, you might need more footer links."
