Actually, any text editor would do if you do hardcoding.

    For me, I love PSPad.

Notepad++ is better than Editplus for HTML as it allows closing and opening at a tag level.

    Thanks for reply

I want us use software through which we can preview the website in the same software like dreamweaver, But I don't prefer dreamweaver coz it is very expensive. I want to know the software which features are same as dreamweaver but no so expensive.

    Thank you

DON'T!!! Those asshat steaming pile of crap WYSIWYGS with their rubbish preview panes are the root of more bad code on the internet than jquery, prototype and YUI COMBINED

You want a preview pane, use the actual browsers - ALL of them. Really, is alt-tab F5 THAT hard to do?

Besides, if you have the money for a software package, you have the money for a second display which would provide a hell of a lot more utility in that department. Open opera to the page you are editing, put it on the second display, and set it to auto-refresh the page every five seconds.

    1) User object model in an interpreted language. Welcome to overhead hell. Especially when:

    2) Well over half of it is just taking verbose existing objects (document.getElementById) and making them cryptic. $(#)

    3) You'll never learn to do it properly by using some rubbish framework.

    4) A good portion of it is using script to do CSS' job - which ends up falling into the same asshat category as that stupid MM_Swap scripted bullshit.

    5) 54k of javascript (19k compressed) is only about four times the upper limit I'm comfortable with deploying for scripts on a site - and MOST of the time people use jquery they end up linking in five or six OTHER scripts that use it, resulting in a train wreck where you have people using 60k of markup and some 200k of javascript just to send 2k of actual page content. /FAIL/ of the highest order.

    6) Worse, SO many scripts that rely on jquery have little to no graceful degradation for people who either don't have .js, or want to tell .js where to shove itself. Usually this is because

    7) It often gets people in the mindset of 'gee ain't it neat' animated crap that usually is an accessiblity /FAIL/ at best, bloated rubbish at worst. (see that lavamenu bullshit - yes, it's very cute, but is it worth 8 files totalling 200k of code, images and other crap?)

    8) You know jquery overuse is getting bad when you have people saying to use four or five lines of jquery to do the same thing as background:image() 0 0 no-repeat; - or as DrHowardDrFine reported in another thread instead of border:1px solid #000; - It's now being thrown out as the solution to damned near every little niggling problem when in most of those cases if you just took the time to ***** learn HTML and CSS, you wouldn't NEED any scripting.

It's like all the other trash frameworks for web design - YUI, Grid - in most cases they just make more work, are more complex than if you just learned to do it right in the first damned place, and in some cases (CSS Frameworks for example) defeat the point of using the technology they are based on in the first place!

Only thing you can learn from Dreamweaver is how NOT to build a website. Knew it was only a matter of time before someone mentioned that steaming bloated overpriced pile of rubbish though :(
