ask yourself a question, what brings in the traffic? PR or the ranking? it is the ranking you go after and PR has very little impact on the ranking itself. stop chasing PR and forus on getting your ranking improved instead
PR is just one of the different matrix that google use to determine your ranking. Anyway as what mentioned by webwest, in the end what matters is how you work on the conversion.
I fully concur/agree with this. Pagerank, trustrank, serp position are just tools to get top spots where the ultimate goal is to get more sales from it. Google itself wrote a blog post about asking webmasters not to concentrate or worry too much about page rank but about providing good enough retainer content.
Page Rank nothing but a measurement of google loving. It is not necessary that if google love you (PR) you will rank higher in SERPs. So better to get for long time in SERPs you need to concentrate on good optimization for your website.
