PPV and PPC - What Exactly IS PPV?

Discussion in 'Pay Per Click Advertising' started by Hijynx427, Oct 30, 2009.

Could someone fill me in - I keep hearing about PPV (pay per view) and people are saying that it's like a pop up window ad. Is this true? Is PPC reserved for search engine results and PPV is where your ad actually pops up in a new window? I always through that PPV was like banner ads and other, similar types of ads.

    Thanks for the clarification,

PPV is traffic from Adware. Don't mistake this from Spyware. With adware, users agree to view x number of ads per day in exchange for free content. It's an awesome source of traffic. Once you get the hang of it, with the right tools, you can go from offer to campaign in less than 20 minutes depending on the technique you go with.

I am almost exclusively going with PPV traffic these days and google get's only a FRACTION of my advertising budget these days.

It's also a great way to build a list... seriously, start checking it out. There's some free info online that will get you pointed in the right direction.

    Best,
    Corey

PPV is similar to a CPM campaign, but it uses toolbars and adware to serve ads. Very effective, yet very expensive. You need to understand marketing to do this right. Very very very profitable.

expect a high bounce rate once you have putted PPV as part of your campaign, most people unintentionally click those kinds of ads, also it is pretty annoying for a web surfer to experience pop ups, by the way there are lots of internet browsers that block pop up advertising.

PPV works best, than you build list and collect subscribers. Traffic is cheep ~ 0.02 per click.

PPV is actually CPV (Cost per view) but Gauher Chaudry made that name famous with Massppvtraffic. Users consent to download adware usually from screensavers, games, or some sort of content web site owners want to protect. Ads are delivered as a popup, popunder or interstitial. Interstitial applications are the least annoying because they don't pop up in a new window and most people don't mind hitting the Skip this ad button. Traffic can be extremely targeted if you choose the right URL and keyword targets. RON works as well but it depends on the campaign and the company's userbase where you are buying the traffic from. Paying $0.01 is fairly cheap, but it can get expensive if you choose the wrong keywords and use broad matching.

CPV traffic coming from web sites can be blocked with popup blockers, but the Adware versions can't get blocked. They are all new browser sessions. Only the javascript pops are able to be blocked. Site based CPV doesn't work well at all so stay away from that, even tho most people only charge $0.003. You get a lot of arb guys dumping traffic to their own site just to get the pops.

Direct CPV- "You get a lot of arb guys dumping traffic to their own site just to get the pops. "

What is the advantage of arb guys dumping traffic...?

PPV and CPV ads are not popups, they are popunder ads or they are inserted to a page using javascript. Popup blockers don't stop them. Plus most of the PPV ads are served directly from a toolbar on your computer, so... again...

They take a link from say DirectCPV or another network that pays say $2 CPM, they buy cheap pop traffic for $1 to $1.50 or anything under $2. They make the spread provided that there isn't much of a discrepancy. That's why the traffic is low quality and we never put our direct advertisers on publishers that do not have desktop applications.

They can be popups, popunders or full page interstitials. It all depends on the desktop application client's software.
