Strategies for obtaining SEO clients

As an SEO do you have process you go through to attract your clients. Obviously I do not expect people to spill their secrets on how they get clients, but what methods have people found the most successful?

Cold calling? cold emailing? face-to-face networking?

Also, which industries have you found most receptive to SEO?

 

If you are just starting, best way to do it is offer a service for free or really cheap, come up with the desired results, get those results in your portfolio and grab a testimonial from that client. You can then use these to support your future offers which will give your prospective clients a peace of mind. Hope that helps

I guess first you can give them free service with limitation..Give them a free ebook will be a good choice.sending them a newsletter at regular interval..

Your own portfolio is the best way IMO

 

Very Important factor of SEO is link building.. organic or inorganic. But it needs cash so it cannot be offered for cheap.

 

Thats how I started, and it payed off.. You can build quality free links on a lot of web 2.0 sites, so you dont really need to spend much, all you need is time, you dont need to spend a lot of cash as long as you know how to do it right. Just make sure you start working on average keywords not the very competitive ones.

if you already have a few clients in place then what you can do is have a referral system in place for getting more clients.

you could form a JV with someone and offer SEO to his/her clients.

you could just offer your services for free/low cost just to get a few testimonials.

 

Only through good portfolio.

 

You can also try viral marketing to get referrals from other people and eventually make them your own clients. Aside from this, keep improving on your own site's SEO for people to acquire your services through search engines.
