Windows 7 will run XP programs and also Vista programs. Windows 7 does recognise most hardware (even old-my pc is made in 2004) and if it doesn't , just install the drivers that came with your hardware and it will work.

Windows 7 will not run ms-dos programs at all , but you can use programs as dosbox for that (i found that out when I wanted to run borland c++).

Oh yah , and windows 7 looks better than XP and is faster than Vista ;)

Microsoft have really taken onboard the feedback they received on Vista. Windows 7 for developers is a far better experience than Vista and XP.

Windows 7 is a beta version from Microsoft office. With Windows 7 Microsoft tied to optimize its OS, memory and the resource usage , in this case even Asus already stated that windows 7 will function correctly with budget notebook EEE PC. The installation process was pretty fast around 15 min. The cost and features of Windows 7 is higher than that of Windows XP. Windows 7 also offers more speed than XP.

I prefer windows 7 because it is more stable and cost effective. And to mention, it has most of the drivers of your hardware aging pentium 4/AMD Semphron Build up. Name the drivers and I did a troubleshoot just a few weeks ago of a computer with windows xp that is full of virus. Having windows 7 installed without reformatting didn't have any problem at all. So I managed to save my files. Thanks to windows 7 but I love my mac more. Win7 is Not enough to quench my work's thirst of capabilities and performance. Just my 2 cents.

Windows 7 is more upgraded than windows xp. But I still prefer to use windows XP since I'm more comfortable using it.

Im currently using windows 7 on a 64 bit machine. Its very good from what I can see. Never had any problems, loving the new unique features of windows 7. This is a complete opposite compared to what a fail windows vista was :).
