HI, I see a lot of people use "@" in front of their username and i dont know what that sign "@" for? ex: @yourusername why not just use yourusername instead? thnks
@ stands for at so they mean @(AT) username because they are to lazy to write at even though you enter 2 buttons for both lol
Your quite welcome. Here is an example... @ henry_nguyen Do your parents know your on the internet? Its a dangerous place. Nigel
Its a way to distinguish to the machine an username from a non-username. If it is preceded by @ then it is symbol machine name. If it is not preceded by @ then it is normal text. So you could simply refer to henry_nguyen while conversing with someone but if you do @henry_nguyen then it will appear in the @Mentions of henry_Nguyen.
We use "@" in twitter when we reply some buddy so we make it like that i m replying you "henry_nguyen@ hello how r u " @mean the you r calling your that persone
finnaly, i think i've got what iam looking for. I just did a test with @vncentral and twitter automatically displays the link under vncentral for me. thnks
It should be noted that on your friends feeds and other APIs linked to Twitter like Myspace and Facebook that the @username message format will not be posted. If you want it to appear on all those you would need to do message @username for it to work.
I just found out about the @ as well. I was told it acts like indexing to help you see related messages. Does that sound right?
