Hi Guys, for those of you that have their site on the first page of good for their keywords did you see a big jump in organic traffic. Did you see a large jump in sales as well? Any comments would be great.
It depends on what keyword. If you are on the first page for a popular keyword, you are going to see an increase in traffic. If your are on the front page for a long-tail keyword with little monthly searches, you probably won't see a big jump in traffic.
To emphasise what has already been said, rank #1 with the term "seraphim proudleduck" and you will get no traffic, rank #1 for the term "nude women" and you will crash your server in an hour with all the hits!
Yup first page gets you a nice jump in traffic but being top 3 is another big step up from that. Sales increase too as there is obviously more traffic.
it depends what you list no1 for. If it's an obscure keyword with few searches then no. If it's a highly competitive one then yes, sales do increase
Why so many people asnwer about being no1 whereas the original post asks about first page it's position 1 - 10. Personally I wouldn't say that I saw a big increase in traffic as there's not much of a difference between being no10 and no12, but there's a small increase. I'd say that from my experience every time you move a bit up you get a bit more visitors so it's marginal. But if you go from position 6 to postion 3 then you'll see a much bigger difference.
Top 3 or it might as well be nothing IMO. I think #1 in organic receives about 85% of the clicks for the search words. So there is a huge drop off but it definitely doesn't hurt to be in the top 5 for your chosen keywords.
My experience with one of my sites: 4th page to 12th - small increase 12th to 7th - larger increase 7th to 4th - almost a non-existant increase 4th to 1st - considerable increase
There is nothing more important than this when applying SEO to your website. I'll have to say that in my industry though, competition is stiff!! Recently I have had a drastic drop that lasted about a year, but I am now finally climbing back up. For my clients, it's usually much easier to get them on Google page one, but I've also had some more difficult, such as a couple of clients who are involved in real estate. It's a weird & wild game, to grab & keep top search rank!
In my view long tail keywords often turn into sell i have very bad seo for my site but i seen some long tail keywords from australia brings sell from me
When I got to the middle of the first page (from page 3) for a particular search term, I got a considerable jump in traffic (and a corresponding increase in adsense revenue).
Recently one of my websites jumped to page 1 (Pos. 4 or 5) for a very popular keyword. There were an extra 750 visitors per day daily, and a lot of them started clicking the ads. The other visitors got probably so used to the ads, but the newbies through Google didn't know about them. So in fact, it resulted in more earnings plus more sales because of the traffic from direct advertisers
I agree with most posters. When I ranked one page 1 for my niche, I got a ton of traffic. I've since dropped to page 2 and now just get a trickle from that particular keyword. Always aim for page 1 (assuming the keyword search traffic is high enough).
Yeah I find anything other than page 1 doesn't get much traffic. When I check my rankings on rankchecker, the only thing I'm interested in is 10 or lower.
Went 1st for a good keyword in a few days having optimized the page for that word, huge traffic increase and then found an advertiser and now that pages alone makes a few thousand dollars, I now use that money to optimize other pages. btw... it was not a new page, it had been indexed for about 5 months However it can happen very slow and you may not notice a spike, just a continued growth.
