    according to my experience, you will get sitelinks if you rank well on that keyword, thats how i get sitelinks.

    You need to rank well for your keyword (within the top 3 on first page of Google). It can take time although a friend of mine has got site links after just 3-4 months.

    My website has 3 sitelinks and i have no idea how i got it.
    Also the links i wanted to appear as sitelinks were ignored and less important ones appear.

    Or use my tactic, just keep on checking whether you have been granted them every couple of hours -) One day they will come. I remember maybe 6-8 months back, google had an update of sorts and gave them out like candy.

    On September 7, 2006, Google's sitemap guru, Vanessa Fox, wrote a blog entry titled Information about Sitelinks. She explained that Sitelinks are generated automatically, and that Sitelinks are designed to provide searchers with more valuable search results. Fox also said that Google will be expanding the Sitelinks program. This would help a searcher in two ways: they can get a better understanding of what the site is about before they visit, and they can take a shortcut from Google to the topic that interests them
