Light vs. Dark

How does Google Adsense determine if the phrase 'Ads by Google' is light or dark? Is there a median among the billions of hexadecimal combinations that determines coloring of the phrase? For instance, if I use a DARK BLUE background on my adsense code than 'Ads by Google' would be white; does Adsense recognize that this bgcolor is 'darker' than a central neutral color that would make the phrase white?

Of course they employ some means to ensure that the 'Ads by Google' is clearly displayed... You aren't trying to hide it are you? If you are, wave goodbye to your AdSense account.

They use some sort of system... even if you use pure black and pure black... ads by google still appears grey. SCLocal is right though, try to hide it and adios!

Whenever you configure your ads color wise, Google's script automatically determines what color to use for their title. Don't ever try to manipulate the code or you will be history.

Are you sure!?!?!? The ToS says nothing about it. And why would it be technically possible? Okay, hiding it completely isn't, but almost. Check http://Bakrecepten.s for example - almost hided.

They seem to base it on how far the color #s are.. If they're too close to each other (almost the same), they'll use their own color which is far from the set background color.. You'll be able to blend them in nicely (almost same colors) if you know how to work your color codes. :)

Doesn't matter what colour b/ground you use it clearly has some means of sensing it and changes it so it always shows. Mind being a multi-billion dollar company guess they can afford some smart programming to do this. Only time you don't see it is on premium publishers accounts.
Good post topic by the way.

Wasn't looking to 'hide' this phrase as it's against policy. I'm designing a site with adsense placement in mind along with color scheme, just curious if there's a 'median' color that would essentially blend the phrase to an extent...

Yep, there is. You just have to keep testing with the colors, if it still shows a different color, move out a little more from the current shade & keep checking. You will eventually find that color that passes their system but is still very much blended well with your background to an extent.
