    Nice work Obama.

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/03/24/fox-news-ratings-crazy-hi_n_178615.html

Fox News Channel continued its ratings tear last week, coming in second place again among all cable channels in primetime. This is the fifth straight week that Fox News has placed second in cable and more emphatic proof that the network is thriving under the Obama administration.

Fox News averaged 2.15 million viewers in primetime for the week ending March 22, 2009. Only USA (3.16 million) averaged more. CNN came in 21st with an average 914,000 total viewers, and MSNBC placed 23rd with an average of 886,000 total viewers. All figures are according to Nielsen Media Research.

In related news, NPR's David Folkenflik aired a segment on Fox News' ratings dominance titled, "Fox News Thrives In The Age Of Obama."

In the segment, Folkenflik called Fox News' ratings "crazy high for a news channel" and spoke with Bill Shine, Fox News' Senior Vice President for Programming to discuss the channel's success:

"There were a couple of people who basically wrote about our demise come last November [and] December and were, I guess, rooting for us to go away. With this particular group of people in power right now, and the honeymoon they've had from other members of the media, does it make it a little bit easier for us to be the voice of opposition on some issues?"

2.15 million viewers. Let's put that in context.

    1. The the big three networks nightly news gets a total of 20 million viewers a night.

    2. Ralph Nader got nearly 3 million votes in 2000.

    3. Barack Obama beat John McCain by nearly 10 million votes in 2008.

    ---

Also, it's worth noting that Glenn Beck's viewership actually went down this week: SOURCE.

We are comparing cable channels. Not everyone gets cable.

Fox news is the second most popular cable show of all cable channels. The first is USA which isn't even a news network.

    CNN is 23rd.

    http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/10/18/white-house-escalates-war-fox-news-1925819282/

Media columnist David Carr of The New York Times warned that the White House war on Fox "may present a genuine problem for Mr. Obama, who took great pains during the campaign to depict himself as being above the fray of over-heated partisan squabbling."

"While there is undoubtedly a visceral thrill in finally setting out after your antagonists, the history of administrations that have successfully taken on the media and won is shorter than this sentence," Carr wrote over the weekend. "So far, the only winner in this latest dispute seems to be Fox News. Ratings are up 20 percent this year."

Not sure why are you so happy with this piece of news? this is saying that the public there, watch news channels, because someone they like likes it, or because someone they dislike, dislikes it, and not because they think this news channel is good in its work and the reports it shows.

    Two Reasons:

    1) Zibb was gloating how fox news' ratings have gone down. When in, in fact, they have exploded.

    2) Obama by acting like a mad dicator is hurting himself because he is leading to many more americans watching Fox news than would have have watched fox news had Obama not actived like a raving lunatic.

    3) The fox news demographcs are all over the political spectrum. Liberals watch it too.

You're wrong. I'm not interested in anything posted on that website. I know it's all lies & spin.

Furthermore you quote how Fox's ratings are up this year. No one is saying that they are not up this year, but this "Obama attack" is a very recent thing... only really gaining a lot of media attention over the last week or two. So to say that their rise in ratings is because of this "Obama attack" is absurd. It doesn't make any logical sense.

Fox's ratings are up because there is a certain percentage on the right wing fringe that gets really intense when we have a Democratic President. The same thing happened when Clinton was President, that's how Fox got their start (being the opposition channel to Clinton's Presidency.)

But again, while these numbers may be large by cable news standards, the truth is - it's a very small portion of the overall population. It's not some big movement like those on the right would love to delude themselves into thinking.

The fact is Obama's approval rating is a good 25% points above where Bush's was this time last year.

I don't think the right has still come to grips with what the Bush admin did to the Republican party... I'm not sure how long it will take them to understand it. They may never get it.

The Republican party is nothing but a far right wing fringe group until they come back with something new.

It's all part of the Obama strategy to push the Republican party farther right until they are completely untenable as a mainstream party. Fox and the rest of the nutters are playing right into it.

    1. Fox ratings have gone down since the whole "Obama vs. Fox" thing has hit the MSM (meanwhile Obama's approval rating has gone up from 50% on 10/20 to 55% today.)

Yes, Fox's ratings are up for the year, they've been up ever since Obama got elected. This has nothing to do with anything Obama has done. It has everything to do with Fox running what amounts to a 24/7 GOP attack ad against the President. There is a portion of the American public that is eating that stuff up, obviously. But the important thing to realize is that portion of the public isn't really that large in the grand scheme of things. Like I said, more people voted for Ralph Nader than watch Fox.

    2. Again, Fox's ratings were up for the year before Obama ever "attacked" Fox (ie: told the truth that Fox is a Republican operated channel, not a true news network.) Saying that Fox's ratings are up because of Obama's so called attack is just crazy. It doesn't even come close to making any sense. The truth is that Fox's ratings are slightly down since this stuff has hit the mainstream media.

    3. Yes, I watch Fox sometimes - but obviously not for news. I watch it to know what kind of lies the Republican party are telling these days. It's just an easy way of checking out what the GOP talking points of the moment are.

If the boycotts of Fox News moveon.org and others are pushing for were actually working there would be a very clear and massive decline in viewers considering we know the breakdown of viewers show a lot of liberals and independents... This is a fact.

I personally know someone that's been organizing groups to go out and put fliers on car windshields in parking lots. They're posting on any and every blog and message board a cut and paste from moveon.org with links back to the group and calls for everyone to stop watching. This person is also active with the facebook groups, Yahoo groups, and many others trying to get more exposure.

I keep telling her she's just going to give Fox more viewers because people are going to want to see what the buzz is about and some of them will stick and become regular watchers. Extremely biased people just don't get it though.

I actually made it through half a Beck show the other day which I believe it the longest I've watched. He had a couple of good points and the lengths he went to make them had me laughing at how wacky he looked. It was entertaining but amazing that show would be on a network that uses the slogan "fair and balanced". Regardless, I do like to watch them and CNN both depending on who's on.

For Fox I like Shepard Smith, Greta, and I like their morning show which leans a little right but Steve Doocy is a quick witted family guy who I think has a lot of great things to say and reports well. He does the weather but sux @ that.

For CNN Lou Dobbs rocks and I like Dr. Sanjay Gupta as a health guy (though he seems to help push agendas a bit)... Campbell Brown and Cooper sometimes depending on what they're covering. Most of all I like quick wits and a level head when doing interviews along with free thinking instead of robot reporting.

I've yet to find anything worth watching on MSNBC and if I stray from cable networks, it's Austin local stuff like News 8.

Saying Fox News isn't a news channel is purely an extremist opinion. If you have an issue with a show or two, call for a boycott of those shows if you really think you need to. But trying to say the whole network is an arm of the republican party is making the people saying look wacko IMO.

WTF "Obama attack" are you talking about? The word "attack" doesn't even exist in the article you linked to.

Did you think that their ratings are up because, uh... more people are watching it? lol

    Let's add 2+2.

Obama attacks the cable news network of Fox news.

Fox news ratings go up 20%.

It's pretty pathetic that just about every single news network is Obama's lapdog. One lone cable news network has the gall to take him to task for his actions, and Obama must try and destroy it.

Not only is he a looney, but a scary one at that.

It's too bad Obama and his henchmen don't spend the same energy going after terrorists as they do attacking fox news.

Zibb you might have missed this since you get your "news" from left wing blogs like "Ballon Juice."

    http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/other/congressional_job_approval-903.html

    Direction of Country

    Right Direction 39.6%
    Wrong Track 56.3%

According to Gallup 57% of americans believe economic conditions have gotten worse compared to 39% who say better. 48% believe we are in poor economic conditions compared to 12% who believe they are good/excellent.

    http://www.gallup.com/Home.aspx

Meaning most americans aren't buying the Obama BS that the recession is over. They are not as dumb as Obama thinks they are.

Your headline from your lying news source aka left wing blog is BS.

The article only cites the Beck program that went down one week compared to the week before.

No wonder lefties are so confused. Don't worry we will straigten you out ;)

The whole reason I think their rating's went up if they actually did. Is because people wanted to see on how blatantly stupid Fox News is. If you actually Believe that anything Fox News reports is creditable I feel sorry for you because somewhere down the line you seriously must have some Undiagnosed form of some mental/Learning condition.
