It's useless to try to market a directory until you have one. What you have is directory software. A directory has sites. In the case of holidaylinks even if it had content, the ONLY thing visible without scrolling down is adsense. Kinda makes it seem less than serious as a directory.

Holidaylinks has 89 sites hidden in 2223 categories. If you dont care about more content, you could list every site there on the front page instead of burying them among empty categories. If you actually worked at it you could double the thing before this time tomorrow. Invest time building it before worrying about traffic, because if people dont see other sites there why would they think it is the place to be?

Seriously, would you go to a library that didnt have but a handful of books? Build a directory before wondering how you can improve one.

    Hi robjones,

Yes we are displaying google ads on our website - this is because of earning some money - as you know we are adding link without any cost - so to subtend we need some way to earn money - which is google adsense.

    Thanks - Anuj Jain

No, you are displaying ads instead of a directory... you dont see the directory unless you scroll off the screen, and I have a huge monitor.

That, coupled with the tiny number of listings (I could add that many links easily in a single day), puts you squarely in the ranks of the people referenced in the sticky in this forum titled "You should not own a directory". Either do some actual work on the thing or take it down, but dont waste space in the directory forum with masked solicitations. If you want a quick buck without work try buying a lottery ticket.

Having now ignored the forum rules to drop your worthless links that only an idiot would mistake for a real directory... how about respecting the posting rules or taking a hike. There's already a thread in the Suggestions forum about these spam posts invading the Directories section... see [Suggestion] Get the Link Peddlers out of the Directories section.

You want to be careful doing that with your adsense, it's screaming "ban me" at google.

What type of traffic do you want to your directory?

I'd have to agree with the later... There is really nothing holiday'e about that site... Its bland, and WAY too much google... It just looks like a typical MFA site.

I'd lose all the google for now.

Google themselves might make that decision for the owner if he/she isn't careful.

I really did not feel the need to report it, other than to bring it to his/her attention. It's pretty apparent that they are not quite in full grasp of just what's wrong with doing what they are doing. Its not just cluttered, it appears completely devoid of content.

I really wish people that want to start a directory would concentrate on content, not money. If they want to make a fast buck they'd have better luck selling dirty socks on eBay than they will generating PPC revenue.

In most cases those that use automated software do not even visit your directory. Not to mention most of what they submit is garbage.

I would advise trying to stay off any automated software lists. If these people don't even visit your site, your chances of monetizing that traffic is 0.

I only see ads instead of directory. Remove some ads if you want traffic.

I agree with comments that your site has too many adsense ads. Every visitor sees just ads. Please note, not everybody will even scroll down. People (visitors) used to see the most important content/information displayed first. In your case is google ads. Your main and most important page on whole website looks like parked domain with external links.
If you using google analytics, check your Bounce Rate - I'm sure it is very high, meaning people leaving you on the first page.

Remove the ads or reduce the number of ads on a page. That way your directory would be more useful to visitors.

When you click on a link labeled "Terms of Service" and go to a page containing all ads and no TOS... that isnt an accident. Site reported to Google.
