Sorry, I just noticed I posted in the wrong board. Should be in Adsense. Sadly, I reckon that more and more people are becoming blind for ads every day. When I first started in Adsense back in 2006, I had really bad ad placements and design. The traffic was low as well, and I didn't get any traffic from search engines. Still, I had a decent CTR. Today, I get 85% of all traffic from search engines and my ads are as optimized as they could get, with a worse CTR. Obviously, people are learning that clicking ads generally don't take them to the thing they were looking for, and stopped the clicking. So for me it means more and more % of the internet users are becoming more immune against Adsense. I don't know what you other has to say about it though, it might just be me having bad luck. I hope that Adsense will make new designs and formats, so each website can have a fairly unique look of their ads. Except from this issue, it seems that we now also get less per click , averagely. These things scares me a lot, future-wise. I know that the advertising industry will always stay alive due to the need of marketing, but how far are we Adsense publishers going to take this slavery? What could make it change? I also thought about this: the more publishers, the less earning. (?) Share your thoughts!
and then you should fine niche that user doesn't know about adsense, so they will click it,...not like create a webmaster page that visitor might already know a bout adsense and they will not click on it,...... thanks
This has definitely been a trend over the last few years, and many have been experiencing this. I think there are certain niches (SEO, programming, etc.) where it really has taken a toll on ctr/revenue. The younger your users/visitors are, the more this seems to affect ctr also. So start building knitting websites. JK!
Funny you say that... I was chatting with someone just the other day showing them a new site and told them please "dont click the ads" (they are in same state and site isnt even indexed yet) and she replied... Dont worry i wont, as i was told that clicking those will give your site a virus (talk about misinformed ) But i agree that adsence doesn't pay very (depends on the niche) well like before and would suggest using alternatives, bidvertiser, chiquita and even affiliate's may pay better... Laterz malcolm
CTR depends on the niche. I think many advanced computer topics users are blind to the ads. Also people need to write better ad copy.
nothing. the only solution is to get more traffic. there is nothing else that you can do. changing placements etc won't really change the long-term trend of your CTR. I have been using Adsense for nearly 5 years now. my CTR is not even a third of what it used to be in my early days.
It's the same thing as the dying of the CDs. The world moves on, people find new ways to distribute music. But the whole music consumption is as high as ever. The musicians will never die out. Just like the webmasters
AGREE! This mean we are gonna ditch adsense and look for other alternative income. Fixed banner spot FTW!
Me too agree with OP. Especially when you niche is related to computers, the CTR is very low. Me too going to sell for fixed adspaces, but buysell accepts site related to webmaster niche. can any one suggest a better one?
Adsense is changing as is google. The whole internet is changing very fast. But its interesting to see HOW its changing!
Darn ! Look at the number of downloads "Downloads: 59,593,758 " . A big bunch of guys who won't see your ads.
u will make money if the ads are what the user want or interest in seeing.........now the days are gone for ad trickiness.....now days are here when you want people to show as a entertainment which interest them
