Hi im planin to hav a website for my business wit my city name and my business eg: delhidoctor.com my problem is that the domain is already taken by some one else and but no website from the past two years in the domain which i want. i waited for the domain to expire but he renewed the domain again, so iam left with two choices, to go with .net domain or to go with .in domain which will help me get my google local listing top list ? .net or .in i live in india and im not sure which domain will help me get better results in google local business search ? with jus my name on couple of youtube videos and some links i got good responce from google local business search so im thinking of having a website and get more business if i get top rank in google local search with my new domain thanks for your answers guys...
If you wish to target the local population - go for ccTLD. I'm sure you would have noticed that Google.com redirects to google.co.in when you do a search and the results shown on google.co.in - give more value to .IN domains over .coms (while the reverse is true for seach made on google.com) I run couple of .IN domains - and this is based on my personal experience and efforts on SEO. So just a ccTLD is not enough if you don't optimize the site. HTH
Why don't you deal with the owner directly. Since the domain holder don't use it,you can offer the owner a good price to let him sell the domain to you.
yea but i dont wana spend that much for this domain which im looking for, so im looking at the next best option which can be .in or .net but unable to make a decision
.net is initially used for some special network organizations.Since you have your own business,I don't think .net is suitable for you.If you have to choose between these two,I would like to advise you to choose .in.However,.com is still the best choice.Maybe you can think over another .com one to instead since you are not willing to purchase that existed .com domain.
go for .in domain as it suits you, since your domain consist of the city name and your profession local to the country.
I have another option which is the taken domain is like for eg : delhidcotor.com where delhi is the name of the city and doctor is the business , the other option which is available is doctordelhi.com and here the business name comes first and then the city. will this do better than .in domain ?
Domain Extension and Domain Names are 2 different entities. Here is the preferred order if this helps you to make up your mind. delhidoctor.com doctordelhi.com delhidoctor.in doctordelhi.in Now first make up your mind about the domain extension you wish (as per your first post in this thread) .net or .IN. and than perhaps you can open a new thread to get a suitable name in selected domain name extension.
.com is always best, but if you feel that the domain is much more brandable in the .in extension, go for .in - imagine what you'd be putting up on banners, how you would promote it...
