I won't say that I'm a huge fan of his, but he's a very good player. Great servant of MU!

RYAN GIGGS admits he was stunned to be crowned BBC Sports Personality of the Year.

The Manchester United star pipped Formula One world champion and favourite Jenson Button to the prestigious award.

    Welsh winger Giggs, 36, said: "It's a shock, it's a big shock.

"As if I wasn't nervous enough, my heroes Seb Coe and Michael Johnson are here. Honestly this is unbelievable.

"I have been lucky enough to win a lot of things in my career, playing with great players and under the greatest manager that ever lived, and playing for the greatest club.

"This is up there with all of that. I grew up watching this TV programme and to see all the people who have won it and to be up there with them, it's unbelievable."

I think he deserved that title. He's a big and likeable football player.
Hopefully he and Scholes put the pen to the paper for a new season with Manchester United next year.

Doesn't say much for sport in this country if Ryan Giggs wins SPOTY (though the competition for the title wasn't exactly great). Maybe a Lifetime Achievement award would've been more appropriate when he finally retires as he has had a long and very successful career.

He is no doubt a superstar as far as football is concerned. Yet, he shows the most humility on and off the field. Truly a class-act whom many could look up to. I just hope he's not into Tiger's hobbies :D
