The level of spam from my email increased. Now I get a double number of spam messages.Did someone noticed that before me ?

I have submitted to 260 directories in last month or so. I have received less than 10 unsolicited mails. Most of the directories were from DP's S&A section. IMO majority of directory owners would never misuse information provided during submissions, but then - internet has all types of people.

(I use a separate email address for diretory submissions.)

Did you use this email address for directory submissions only? Is it published somewhere? If it's not an address used exclusively for directory submissions, it's possible the spam could be unrelated to the directory submittals.

I've submitted to a large majority of directories and I've received just a few unsolicited email messages as a result. I'd think very few if any diretory owners are selling their email lists. But you never know.

It's not a bad idea to use a dedicated email address when submitting. ;)

Yes, the spam is likely from some unethical directory owners. I have noticed there are a few of these idiots out there who treat their directories as another way of compiling email addresses for mass mailing. These pole smokers should be strung up by their testicles!

I always make a separate email address for directory submissions, and the level of spam is quite low compared with, say, emailing 250 random site owners and seeing what happens. There are a couple of bad apples, as well as directories that put you on their frequent mailing lists, which you sign up to in the small print.

These mailing lists are the reason I don't bother with Jayde any more.

I also filtered them.. a few very spammy ones.

No need to use a spare email for this.

Most directory owners do not spam, I own about seven directories, too busy to send spam. But remember that we have a few bad ones too

Yes, that will happen. It will also happen if you put your e-mail on your website. The best solution is to have a good spam filter or to use a spare e-mail.

As a directory owner and submitter, asking for email addresses is normal. I've seen little evidence of abuse from directory owners. I get some email anouncements of new directories and the like, but this should be expected. I'm mean come on, many of these guys are doing it for free. Are we really going to complain that they send us an anouncement about their latest web project? Although most of the email I get is for information about my submition. I think it's nice to know when my submition was aproved. I use a seperate email for signing up for stuff. All those emails go in a seperate folder. It's not a big deal. If the spam become unmanagable, then I'll get a new one.
