I have just set up my domain name and it wontlet people other than who are in my LAN to go on the site is that normal? It said it would take 24-48 hours and its been like 3. Shall I just wait?
There's your answer. Like I said in the other thread, some people's DNS will have updated within hours, others in days. So... Wait 2 days, then start trouble shooting. If necessary.
Wow ... am I showing my blondness today. He said it'd been like 3, I thought he meant 3 days ... not hours! Yes, patience young grasshopper Currently still showing the DNS as the parked crap at GoDaddy and the IP is showing 192.168.0.7 which is ICANN ... check it every few hours if you're really anxious. However, that doesn't mean you can't be building and coding offline while you're waiting
Simply a work in progress ... it's being pushed throughout the DNSs and will only be a matter of time
I think your dns it's not correct. You say that 192.168.0.7 it's your ip, that's your ip only on your local network. Your public ip will be displayed here: myip.dk Update your dns zone records with the correct ip.
The DNS information at whois shows: Domain servers in listed order: PARK15.SECURESERVER.NET PARK16.SECURESERVER.NET You need to change via GoDaddy to whatever your webhost servers are.
The 192.168.x.x pool of IP is made for internal network and it is not accessible extenally. You need to use an externally accessible IP. Are you hosting the site on your home pc ? If so, use the one which your ISP is providing. Make sure you check with them to see if you can run a website behind their bandwidth, most would not allow you to do so, so it is good to check. Alternatively, you could spend a couple of dollars and get the site hosted on a proper web host.
I may just do that and get a proper web host, could you take a look at my other thread and tell me how much ill lose by selling my domain, thanks eddy.
You need to setup your netgear router to redirect the port 80 (http) to your internal ip (probably 192.168.0.7 from your posts) and now should work.
