Yes I think you have the option of paying via other sources not requiring you to have a paypal account.

the good thing about a subscription via paypal is that you need a verified bank account to start it up. any tom dick or harry can get a paypal account and abuse it, but scammers are less inclined to connect themselves to any shady accounts. its a decent safety measure

I am on a 2-3 Prepaid numbers from last 7-8 years. Prepaid mobiles are easy to handle since you don't need to handle various billing procedures.

And the matter of fact it only takes 24 hrs to convert from a billing number to prepaid and vise-versa.

Also claiming that one can track billing vs prepaid number is complete flaw - I don't buy that claim. :)

this is the point i was trying to make earlier, its not possible to tell if a number is pre-paid or a contract simply by the number.

also your phone provider is legally obliged to keep your privacy a priority so i dont think you would be able to just ring the call center and say hey, has john smith with the number 07898 888 888, is that a contract number or pre-paid. the operator would tell you to take a hike

Right, your provider *is* obligated to report the type of number it is without disclosing any personal information. How well your provider keeps up to date with that is really up to them.

Probably very similar to ISPs allocating blocks of IP addresses. They are supposed to keep them up to date, but that isn't always the case. The IP blocks allocated to Digital Point Solutions for example is correct in the company name, but it seems they are just doing it initially when one gets allocated to a customer, and not necessarily for minor changes (like address).

    https://ws.arin.net/whois/?queryinput=! NET-216-9-35-48-1

Allocated in 2003 and hasn't been updated since (even though the address has changed twice since). But I assume if it was reallocated to someone else, it would be updated.

If we donated and never recieved the user title editing privelidges before then can we be given the equivalent of how much we donated ($50) in a premium subscription?

As far as I know, everyone that donated and should have gotten the user title thing did. In fact, I checked and you did.

It's "self-service", you need to go here to edit it: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/profile.php?do=editprofile, so you should be able to edit your user title indefinitely (regardless of premium membership).

Sorry for double posting. I just felt that after posting my thread in area 51, that maybe it would be better to discuss this issue in the related topic that Shawn made.

I also thought that maybe this could help warn others before they modify things such as a email on their account.

    Best Regards,

I personally think Shawn must not allow Premium Membership & Telephonic authentication services for members who have members of this forum for a period less than 6 months.

Adding such measure will ensure that a new member doesn't boost off his Premium Privileges and scam away someone and go!

Ps.: I am not pin pointing at anyone as of now, its just a general opinion! :)

Has anyone else noticed that premium members still see ads in posts? I just noticed it now:).

If someone does a telephonic authentication there are less chances he is going to scam and run away i would say since they would reveal it if needed

does this mean that as a premium member you still have to view ads in other peoples threads? thats a bit counter productive, so threads created by a premium member dont have ads in them. ok who benefits from that? certainly not the premium member.

Except it keeps potential buyers in your sale threads vs. clicking out on an ad.

Very interesting addition. Will see how this develops (new features for premium members) and certainly upgrade. Nice job!

    My mistake.

Honestly it does not matter to me if i see ad's in my posts or anyone elses posts. I was just simplying bring this to Shanws attention incase it was a flaw in the system.
