Well I guess he is fit but I doubt on his performance, he will not give 100% performance and who knows he may go early like Gerrard against Lyon!

Yep agree Torres always looks very brittle to me,fantastic player, but not robust enough, and has many injuries, he finds the PL tough going, not with his play which is exceptional, but with his ability to play lots and lots of games one after the other

Yes and I think his record against United is also not a impressive one so we shouldn't be worried about it! We have strong team and Rooney's return will surly give edge for us.

I think Alex will use his best players in Mid-Field and for me I think Alex will choose Giggs,Valencia, Paul and Daren.

The pressure never stops Terry Venables has this to say

Rafa will pay with his job

    http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...nists/2697684/Rafa-will-pay-with-his-job.html

ANOTHER defeat tomorrow and Liverpool could be saying 'adios' to Rafa Benitez.

It would be extremely difficult for him to stay as manager if his team fail to get a result against Manchester United.

The Anfield clash is a game Liverpool and, in particular, Benitez simply cannot afford to lose.

Four successive defeats, the Kop's worst run for 22 years, have left their Champions League and Premier League hopes dangling by the thinnest of threads.

They have not lost five on the spin since the start of the 1953-54 campaign when they finished bottom of the old First Division and were relegated.

Liverpool will not be relegated this season, of course, but they are in serious danger of finishing outside the top four.

They currently sit a disappointing eighth in the table, three points behind fourth-placed Arsenal, who have a game in hand, and seven adrift of leaders United.

If Liverpool lose again tomorrow, then they will not only wave goodbye to their faint hope of winning their first top-flight title for 20 years, they may also wave goodbye to their manager.

Benitez did a terrific job after being appointed in June 2004.

He will go down in history as one of the all-time great Liverpool managers for winning the Champions League in his first season.

None of us will ever forget that night in Istanbul when his team, trailing 3-0 to AC Milan at the interval, staged an astonishing second-half comeback to force extra-time, before they eventually triumphed on penalties in one of the greatest football matches ever.

The following season he led Liverpool to the FA Cup with an equally-dramatic shootout win over West Ham in Cardiff.

And in 2007 he took the Kop to another Champions League final, only for Milan to exact revenge for their Istanbul heartbreak with a 2-1 victory in Athens.

But every manager, even the greats, has a shelf life and Benitez may have reached his.

For all his past achievements and his Champions League success, the Premier League crown remains the holy grail for those on the Kop.

It has long been felt that Benitez has always prioritised European success over domestic glory.

But a runners-up spot to United last season and Cristiano Ronaldo's exit from Old Trafford sparked a justifiable wave of optimism in the red half of Merseyside that this season would see their first League crown since 1990.

Unfortunately for them it looks like that is now not going to be the case.

Their four defeats in League so far this term is already twice as many as they suffered in the whole of last season.

Defeat at Anfield tomorrow would mean they have lost half of their opening 10 league games for the first time since 1993.

Benitez has not enjoyed the best of luck this term, a fact highlighted by Darren Bent's beachball winner against them last weekend. When something like that happens you perhaps know the writing is on the wall.

Nor has the Spaniard's cause been helped by injuries to his two key players, Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard.

Liverpool's success this season was always going to depend on the fitness of their two most talented and influential stars.

Any team would suffer in the absence of such stellar performers.

But when you rely so heavily on one or two players it is sod's law they will get injured. And they have.

Liverpool, and particularly Gerrard, are also missing Xabi Alonso much more than Benitez probably expected or will care to admit. We are seeing now just how much the Spanish midfielder made Liverpool and Gerrard tick before his £30million summer switch to Real Madrid.Alonso's seemingly-telepathic understanding with Gerrard was the platform for Liverpool's superior performances last season.

He seemed to know instinctively where Gerrard would be on the pitch and got the ball quickly to his captain. The Anfield skipper is struggling slightly in his absence and so is Benitez.

Managers stand and fall by their decisions. Benitez's decision to flog Alonso may come back to haunt him. That void in the Liverpool midfield remains unfilled.

New-boy Alberto Aquilani may provide the solution. The Italian may feature against United as he continues his recovery from knee surgery that has sidelined him since his £20m switch from Roma.

It is asking a lot for a man who has not kicked a ball for the first team and is overcoming serious injury to save Liverpool's season and Benitez's neck. But that is how desperate the situation is.

A situation that has not been improved by the ongoing boardroom turmoil created by owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett and a string of possible takeover bids.

Ironically, the chaos upstairs may just be the thing that keeps Benitez in a job as the Americans may not want to pay the reported £20m it will take to get rid of Rafa.

Another defeat tomorrow, though, and they might not be able to afford to keep him.

Terry could be right anything less than a win for Liverpool , and it could be all change at Anfield

For me it is United to Win :)

    Rafa who knows ?

    Liverpool 2 Manchester United 0

Fernando Torres sparked the end of Liverpool's four-game losing streak in a stormy Anfield clash that saw Nemanja Vidic and Javier Mascherano sent off.

Second-half goals from Torres and an injury-time David Ngog strike moved Liverpool to within four points of champions Manchester United.

But the game was marred by the dismissals of Vidic - his third in successive games against Liverpool - and Mascherano, who both saw red for two yellow cards.

Jamie Carragher was fortunate not to be sent off when receiving only a yellow card for fouling Michael Owen as the last defender on 87 minutes.

But as United chased an injury-time equaliser, Ngog sealed victory for Liverpool with a cool finish past Edwin van der Sar.

United not at their best, Liverpool deserved to win

    Well done Liverpool

I had a nagging feeling prior to the game that Liverpool would rise to the occasion and they did. Bah!

Well United did same thing which we did last season, poor defending caused us once again problem for us and I was expected something wrong from Vida who failed to stop Torres last season as well as this season too! Valencia was close to 1-1 but it didn't happened! United bounce back last season after Liverpool and Arsenal defeats and it seems same thing will happen here. I am sure Alex will have some words to his players and it's good for us ahead of Chelsea game! I think foul on Owen should be Red card for Jamie Carragher.

it wasn't Vidic's fault that Torres scored...it was Rio and besides, the offside trap was too high

No I am not talking on Goal but talking on red card and challenges! On Gaol, Yes Rio should did better job and I think Torres biggest strength work here. His ability to keep away the ball from defender give him edge yesterday too!

Talking about this game. I am disappointed with referee. First Ryan Giggs being fouled in the box. Second, handball by Glen Johnson. Third, I think Carragher should be red carded. Urgghh!

To put it simply, the better team won last night. We'll just have to move on and focus on the next game.
