How To Block Spammers in WP MU?

    Hi,

    How can i block spammers in registering and creating users and blogs on the WordPress MU?

    I delete 20 new blogs everyday from this spammers:

    @onlq.com
    @mysace.info
    @burnfatsecrets.com
    @host-a-site.info
    @myspacee.info

    I saw somewhere that you can stop people from registering by checking referrer.

    It it not possible to stop human but you can reduce spam from bots.

    using WP-Spamfree would be a wise decision to stop bots though implementation of normal captcha (not recaptcha) would stop bot registration. For further spam protection you may use invisible defender.

    Go for manual approval. I had also stopped allowing new registrations in a few of my WPMU sites after SEO bots started creating several blogs almost everyday. Go for the manual approval instead. It is a lot better.

    Manual approval would work IF you have the time. Otherwise using something like Akismet and BadBehavior should help.. Of course if you want to get all gung-ho, you could do what I do.

    you just blocked Email domains. or just allow few domains for registration like yahoo gmail msn etc.
    i have control with it.

    It's an option on your Dashboard -> Site Admin -> Options page. Be sure to be running 2.8.6 because earlier version had a bug where the list did not work.

    You can block their IP or just using Akismet. It work well at my blog.

    Please review the thread you're posting in. We're not talking about comment and trackback spam, but splog creators within Wordpress Multiuser.

    Also Akismet is not a free service for WPMu. Costs a lot of money actually.
