How much is YOUR time worth? (See if this makes sense to you)

How much your time is worth probably depends on how much you value it yourself. This is probably then directly related to how much money you are currently making with your online business.

As someone who tries to use mostly free marketing, I worked it out like this for myself:

Total hours I work online per week: 10 hours
Hits generated to my one site: 350 uniques

That comes down to 35 hits per hour and roughly equals 1 unique hit per 2 minutes.

If I would get the same amount of hits from PPC paying 50 cents per keyword I would pay $175.00.

That means that if I work 10 hours to save $175, then I basically work for $17.50/hour so that is what my time is currently worth.

Dang! And obviously all the time doesn't go into traffic generation.

What do you guys think about this way of thinking and what is YOUR time worth?

I've been thinking the same thing too. But the problem is for some people we just don't have the initial for ppc thus lead us a to a free method which involved long hours. :(

This is too funny... what about the continued SEO traffic you generate though?.. if you can create/increase traffic to something that continues to generate clicks, then the amount of work would pay over time. You would then need to abandon site one and move on to site two, or up the number of clicks on your site for every hour worked.

That sounds interesting. And how much are you worthy? Are you clear with it?I dpn't think one's value can be
calculated so easily. Some unknown and uncertain factors should also be considered. What's more, one also has
its potential and this could be probably activated in some conditions.Sometimes, success just needs that special
    moment.

I think earning money from the internet is way way overhyped.

The experts try to make it sound easy but it is seriously not easy for one to earn decent money of it. You can earn money but it most probably won't be alot if you calculate it on a per hour basis.

I think you need to take into account that there is a learning curve. In the beginning you won't make money, but you will gain experience in what to do and not to do ... THAT should later translate into earning. But only if you stick with it and find another way when one doesn't work.

    @Bertuseng

I think you initial way of calculating a hourly worth is good. The only problem is:

When you generate $175 worth of PPC with free traffic you have to make sure that the traffic is also worth that to you. Meaning you should be indifferent between working 10 hours per week and put $175 in your pocket and generating the amount of traffic you do with 10 hours of work.

So the traffic has to generate $175 value to you = selling ads or products for $175. Otherwise you will be better off working 10 hours for a wage of $17.5/hour.

Look at your sales compared to your time spend.

You are just missing something. I make a very nice living working full time in internet marketing.

It is not easy, especially at first, but after you learn what to do and how to do it, you can earn serious cash.

If I take my monthly income and divide it by the amount of hours I work I make a little over 31.00 per hour.

I think that's the only formula that is realistic and accurate.

Nice posts from what I read. I think you only value your time if you have spent it in valuable conversions. So if you made or is making $10 per hour for an activity you are doing then that is the value of your time.

I think the value of a person's time is best calculated by looking at what that person would have earned doing something else. If the alternative is doing something that brings in no money, like watching television at $0/hr, their time was worth $0/hr to start with.

OK.. 100 hours watching television --> Watching television brings in $0/hr

    >>> Then my time watching televisoon is worth 100 times nothing

yea I dont agree with this calculation of your time's worth...it doesnt show you how much you are earning with your time...who cares if you get 350 clicks if you dont make a dime..you have to equate your time worth with how much money you make in that time...that is the only way

I charge about 2$ per article rewrite which i can do in 30mins, so my time rate is 4$ per hour. Whether I am working or not. Does it make sense?

ok its a fairly rough guide that op has developed to help justify their efforts - whatever makes you feel better and allows you to keep battling away i say :)

but not everything is suited to being put in a nice formula and quantified with some arbitrary numeral value as its not the same for all sites and there is always other variables that need to be considered
