Right Wing Conservative thinking and preaching enjoys taking a slim inconceivable connection between someone's "sentence" or past relationships and then blows it up into something it isn't. Character assasination at its most virulent. Nothing true about any of it. But extremist Right wingers make up a sick story about it and post it everywhere. Well... a picture is worth 1,000 words. Seeing two friends and cohorts shaking hands is far more indicative of two co conspirators that decided to work together. Here we have the evidence how the Bush administration, and its most conservative Right Wingers conspired with one of the most heinous villains in existance. I guess Rummy and his bosses, Cheney and Bush decided to unite with Saddam to ensure that over 4,000 American soldiers would die, the US would waste over $1 trillion in Iraq, distract Americans from the real villain, OSama bin Laden and allow him to live, and ultimately put the US in the worst financial condition since the Great Depression...and maybe worse than that. Its obvious. There is the picture. A picture is worth 1,000 words. Meanwhile, by her own words, Anita Dunn is a big believer in Mother Theresa... and by his own picture, Rumsfeld and I'm sure his bosses are the closest buddies of Saddam Hussein. Its obvious.
God I love Alan Grayson. What a hero: Fox Propaganda Is The Enemy Of The United States. Screw Fox Propaganda and their incessant whining! Finally after years of spreading propaganda with the false tag of "news" attached to their nonsense they are being called out and they have the audacity to whine about it? Screw 'em! Fox News is a right wing propaganda network and The Obama admin. will no longer respond their witch hunts! Anita Dunn is going nowhere. Check this out: White House communications director Anita Dunn fired back at criticism from TV commentator Glenn Beck on Friday, saying that a Mao Tse-tung quote Beck took issue with was picked up from legendary GOP strategist Lee Atwater. White House communications director Anita Dunn says she picked up a Mao quote from a legendary Republican. "The Mao quote is one I picked up from the late Republican strategist Lee Atwater from something I read in the late 1980s, so I hope I don't get my progressive friends mad at me," Dunn told CNN. As for Beck's criticism: "The use of the phrase 'favorite political philosophers' was intended as irony, but clearly the effort fell flat -- at least with a certain Fox commentator whose sense of irony may be missing." Glenn Beck is a hack at best. At worst he's a cult leader and his followers are "Beckists." If you take what this man says seriously you should seek help.
It certainly is when its used in "context"... Care to be a bit more truthful about what this photo really represents. ??? [/QUOTE]
Here's some context to the Rummy/Saddam photo: "The United States sold Iraq over $200 million in helicopters, which were used by the Iraqi military in the war." "The United States supported Iraq during the Iran–Iraq War as a counterbalance to post-revolutionary Iran. This support included several billion dollars worth of economic aid, the sale of dual-use technology, non-U.S. origin weaponry, military intelligence, Special Operations training, and direct involvement in warfare against Iran as well." "It is becoming increasingly clear that George Bush, operating largely behind the scenes throughout the 1980s, initiated and supported much of the financing, intelligence, and military help that built Saddam's Iraq into the power it became" (Ted Koppel in 1992)
Here is a little history lesson. Iraq and Iran were at war. At that time Iraq was considered the lesser of the two evils, so the US supported Iraq over Iran. It gave Iraq arms that it used against Iran. And your point is?
#1) OBVIOUSLY it was irony. Didn't you notice the crowd's laughter? Didn't you notice how she made the point of how strange it was to quote both Mao & Mother Theresa? Jesus, it's like you're purposely missing how obvious this is. Do you really want to believe in Glenn Beck this badly that you're willing to twist reality in such an obvious way? #2) How do you feel about Lee Atwater quoting Mao? #3) How do you feel about Newt Gingrich quoting Mao? Is Gingrich a "MARXIST" too? For God's sakes man! This is preposterous! #4) And for good measure how do you feel about this: Karl Rove, another Fox News contributor, wrote in a December 2008 Wall Street Journal op-ed that President Bush "encouraged me to read a Mao biography." I guess that means Dubya & Rove are Marxists too! --- How about you just admit how ridiculous your post was and promise us not to come here again with anymore of Glenn Beck's BS? I think that would be the respectable thing to do. ACTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES. We gave Iraq the weapons they later used against us. Just like we trained Osama Bin Laden! How about we start implementing a forward thinking foreign policy that doesn't create more problems than it solves?
His point is, that Glenn Beck sucks, Rush is a drug addict, Palin while pretty is pathetic, and that there Fox News is the root of all evil and everything that is Bush...
It was ironic that she's a fool, but in no way can she blame it all on that. She said it her own words that he is her favorite political philosopher and that she looks to him most, and then went on to quote how "heroic he was". No, there was nothing humorous, funny, or cute about that. It was indeed ironic to be paired with Mother Teresa, but that in no way dismisses the fact that he's her FAVORITE POLITICAL PHILOSOPHER. As I made clear earlier in the thread, there's a difference between quoting and idolizing. See above. See above.
Of course it was ironic. Seriously, there is a big difference between having "favorite political philosophers" and believing in the philosophy of an individual. As stated above, I knew someone who was, at the time, an avowed maoist. Actually we never discussed who his favorite philosopher was. I couldn't give a r@ts @ss about favorite philosopher. It was not important for him to tell others who is favorite philosopher were. It was important to tell others his own philosophy. Then the guy changed. If I were interested in her choice of philosophers intellectual curiosity would spur me to ask about the obvious dichotemy of having favorites who were so diametrically different from one another. How does she learn from both? How does it tie in together? OTOH, If one doesn't accept that, but accepts the flimsiest of connections a la Glenn Beck and the rest of the extremist right.... than there is no irony. Its obvious from a picture, which is clearly worth a thousand words....that Rumsfeld and Hussein are the best of friends. Its obvious that these two BFF's, along with Rumsfeld's later, bosses, who were also close buddies....all conspired together and accomplished the following: Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld conspired with Rumsfeld's BFF and set about to 1. Go to war 2. Have over 4,000 American's killed 3. Spend (waste) $1 trillion 4. Divert Americans from hunting down and getting Osama bin Laden, the guy who was responsible for about 3,000 deaths, 4 jet hijackings and destroying the twin towers and partially destroying the Pentagon....thereby heightening the recession of the early part of this decade. Afterall, all of that occurred. Its obvious from the picture. What could be clearer. Its infinitely more clear than someone discussing their own interest in two widely divergent "political/philosophical" favorites who are as different as night and day. In fact,
It's not that big of a difference if she turns to him most. If you think I'm going to defend Bush and his gang of criminals you are very mistaken.
Since you were likely in grade school when all this went down. Here is how I remember it. 1. War was brought to us. 2. Over 4,000 brave American men and women gave their lives honorably so people like you and I could bicker about what they do. 3. I don't find defending freedom at all costs (the President's job) a "waste". 4. Osama's dead, bin dead (pun intended). Afghanistan was a ruse, not unlike the Doolittle raid, nothing more than a feel good attempt at instant retaliation. A pep rally for the downtrodden if you will. I'm on the other end of the spectrum. I think going to Afghanistan was a mistake. I do not think we belong there, never should have gone there, and should get the fuck out now.
I did a research paper on the War on Terror when I was in 10th grade because I was all pumped about it.. I could not for the life of me connect 9/11 to Iraq. It had nothing to do with it.
Nate: How do you know whom she turns to most? Did she say that? Did she say she is a Maoist? Has she acted like a Maoist? In fact, what is a Maoist? Frankly, I suspect people are taking this accusation out of context and painting her as something she is probably not. After one figures out what a Maoist is...how could one live in America, hold down positions acting like an American and get away with it for years. On the other hand, I agree there is no proof of Saddam Hussein's connection to bin Laden and 9/11. I think I smell a lot of twisted exaggerated character assassination without substance. There is a lot of that out there in the political world. Of course some of it is often accompanied by statements that are purely ignornant, defy any reasonable commentary, and are made in the face of total lack of proof. For instance I take this quote just made from Mia, above What in the world does Mia know, sitting in his house in Wisconsin that nobody else knows with assurance anywhere in the world, including the most aggressive and professional intelligence and spy organizations. How does Obama keep coming up with these videos and announcements that describe current events and experts describe as his voice? I know how Mia knows this stuff. He lives in a fantasy world. Mia is a firm believer in the correctness of the academic knucklehead who proclaimed that amount of mileage should determine who gets the most votes. Believing that as you do, Mia, I again suggest you bow down to GWorld, who lives in Canada, and therefore represents dramatically more mileage than you ever will.
If you only had e-mailed me, I would have easily helped you. Al Qaida and Hussein had close ties with each other than went back a decade. http://www.weeklystandard.com/Content/Public/Articles/000/000/003/378fmxyz.asp?pg=1
"the third lesson and tip actually come from two of my favorite political philosophers, Mao tse Tung and Mother Teresa, not often couples with each other (audience laughs).. but the two people that I turn to most.." Oh boy, they had ties with each other. What in the world does that have to do with anything? If we want to eliminate Target A because they attacked us, what sense does it make to go after Target B on the grounds that they had ties with Target A? Our government also had ties with OBL AND Hussein, it doesn't mean squat.
Holy crap, so could every other shady country in the middle-east, we might as well go and destroy their leaders and waste all of our money and lives standing around trying to rebuild that shit hole that's never going to be fixed. Our government has shown us that it doesn't care about going after terrorists, which is why they came up with some of the most retarded strategies, like leaving our borders wide open.
