You'll need to add an A NAME record to the domain's DNS linking it with the IP. Not sure how that is done in GoDaddy - see their FAQs.

You will need to get a DNS for you server's IP and point your domain to it.

I guess so, you should check that people from outside your network can access your site and that your ip doesn't change frequently.

If it takes them up to 24 hours, after that it can take up to 48 hours to propagate around the world. ISPs / Local Nameservers cache DNS entries and only refresh every few days. You'll find that some can getthere via the domain right away, others it will take up to 48 hours.

Godaddy provides itw own DNS servers. So you can enter your IP address to the godaddy account directory.

Go to "My Domain" and then click on your domain name, on the righ hand side at the bottom you sill see something like "Full DNS control" (or something similar), expand and click on it..there you will be able to add your IP address.

    Ok.. its..

    From top menu:
Domains > My Domains > Click on domainame > Total DNS Control (on right hand side bottom) > Total DNS Control And MX Records

Then you will open a new window. Update A record in it at the top of the page.
    A recod looks somethin like
    " @ 72.232.178.34 3600 Edit Delete "

Click on edit and change the ip address. Then click on "continue" then again on "update".
Thats it.. then give it some time..

Leave everything as it is (@ and 1 hr) and just change the IP address. "@" automatically resolves to your hostname.

If you know the IPnumber of the company you bought hosting from you can use ping to determine when the DNS has propagated.

On you local computer while connected to the internet, click on start, then run, then type in "ping yourdomain.com" without the "" and click OK. If the IP number matches your host you are good to go.

Usuually you can upload your site prior to resolution. Your host should have provided the how to info.
