Copied content ranking higher than me in Google search

Is there any chance for a website to rank higher than me in google search if it has copied content from my website?

As a matter of fact, one such website is ranking above me in search engine rankings.

Well, I want to know whether google punishes such websites having copied content? If yes, then what kind of punishment does they offer?

Not a rule but suppose if some already popular site copies your contents then that may come up high in SERPs as yours.

Protect yourself and use copyscape so you know when your site is being copied. There is a free and paid for version.

Hi Chandan123 - Google may rank copied content higher if the website has more authority than yours - Google basically chooses one to rank higher! Have you tried emailing the site owner and asking them to take it down? If that doesn't work try sending a spam report to Google reporting the copied content so that they know your website is the correct one to rank.
