Ok so I have a question about the duplicate content penalty,so I have made a site on blogger, url is http://benefitsoffishoilforhealth.blogspot.com and the way it works is when you write a post it also puts it on the homepage, so does this penalize my site and possible not index my new posts, or will this not have an even.

p.s. The whole article doesn't appear on home page, only a snippet with read more tag. Thanks for any help.

the answer is no. if its on your site and pointing to a page within your site, google will know that it is a "snippet" and its being used to further explain the link. it is actually better than just having a text link without a description.

No, and for the record, "duplicate content" is something that gets filtered out, not a Google imposed penalty.

There is no penalty called duplicate content .....
It's just filtering from serp for more user friendly experience .....

For the best of the internet somehow ..

Some addition to the duplicate content discussion....

It depends who copies your content. If Google finds the site that copies the content is a trusted site, you are doomed. Frustratingly yes.. that's true... here is the example.....

For the query "difference between plant cell and animal cell"
    The fifth results is http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Difference_between_an_animal_cell_and_a_plant_cell

This is a user generated content which is an exact copy of this article
    http://www.differencebetween.net/science/difference-between-animal-and-plant-cells
but the original article is no where to be found in the SERPS. (Actually it dropped after the duplicate content posted and found by Google)

The original article was published on July 16 2009. The current Answers.com answer was copied and pasted on 11 Aug 2009. Until the Answer is posted the original article ranked well but after the answer was foud by Google the original article dropped out of the results.

It is very unfair to treat duplicate content on the basis of trusted sites. Answers sites are like parasites if they could kill the host, the ecosystem will perish.

It is unfair on many fronts; one is a person's hardwork is manipulated by others. and a competitor can be easily kicked out of the SERPs by simply copying his popular post and publish it on answers site Yahoo answers or Answers.com.

It is unfair and unethical and I am so mad about that.
Any thoughts on handling this issue?

Duplicate content penalty myth is not true! It is pure fantasy!

You can search on Google blogs and videos about duplicate content penalty and see that this is simple myth. If you have same content as other older web site you will be just ranked below that page.

Because if your web page content is just filled with duplicate content Google will see it as junk web page. And your page ranking will suffer, but this is not question of penalty. But you can fixed that by better SEO configuration of your web site.

I am very new here and I can't post any links here so go to Google official site and look for Google Blogs and duplicate content myth.

If we talk about Google AdSense and maybe Google AdWords (no one knows what is going on up there) then it is other story, but they both don't have anything with your page ranking.

Are your content being copied or what? Plagiarism?
