Hi guys, Google alexa rank in the US is 1 and Amazon is 13. So, would it be right to say that for every 13 Google visits, Amazon gets 1 visit ? Thanks
The thing you have to remember about alexa rank is it's not the most accurate, and mostly based on visitors who have the alexa toolbar installed. I check it sometimes for a rough estimate of how sites rank.
Sorry but its not like that, we can say that there are more number of google users who use alexa tool bar compared to amazon users we can say it in this way.
Yes Banana, your assumption is roughly correct. Alexa is an estimate based on the activity and 'travels' of users who have the Alexa toolbar installed. Since not everyone has the Alexa toolbar installed, Alexa has an undisclosed algorithm for establishing their rating. Obvious: The more people with the Alexa Toolbar installed that visit your site, the lower your Alexa Rating. Alexa statistics apply 1 visit per day per Unique IP in their overall ranking of sites. @neo You're right, there are probably more Google Toolbar users than Alexa Toolbar users, it would be great if Google established a sort of ranking number for sites similar to the Alexa Toolbar. Maybe if they ever get rid of PR we can hope they switch to that.
No. It depends on many factors such as bounce rate, time on site, etc, if these things are collected correctly by Alexa toolbar.
Perhaps you should re-read the OP's original message: His assumption is correct, more or less. Google definitely gets more visits than Amazon, but whether the actual numbers (13:1) are correct can be argued upon.
The problem is that's the wrong number I did have two sites, one with 100 visits / day, and one with 150 visits / day. The first one's Alexa rank is 800k, and the second one is 200k.
No thats not rite Take a example of a school A Student Who Gets rank 1 scored 20 marks A Student who gets rank 13 might have scored 19 marks so not compulsary
the google rank could mean, hypothetically, 5000 visitors, the other website ranked at lets say 5 could have 14 visitors. See. That ratio does not apply at all. Unless it is by coincidence, but considering google dominates the world and amazon interests people wanting to buy books and other stuff, there is no way in all of hek that this ratio could apply.
As far as I know the assumption is not correct. Alexa is not a relative ranking but rather a rough measure of who is getting the most visits. Also Alexa is much less accurate for values above 100k so bear that in mind when you assess sites with it.
No , its not true. Maybe amazon has some millions less than Google's visitors. Alexa rank is as a competition. A website can get better rank even for some more visitors.
We can't say any thing about the Ranking mean(no. of visitors ,quality etc). but This is may be used to compare for overall performance. And this is not correct if we compare that if a website has good ranking in alexa then it must be good in Google Ranking as compare to other website. Every Tool has it's own criteria/algorithm which is not open clearly.
i have really confused with that , I have see my site to rank lower and visitor increased and other rank higher and have lower visitors I never understand that
