What would you do if google stopped outputting its page rank and kept it 100% secret . Everyone these days completly relies on the PR of pages and links. So if PR was no longer available .. how would you decide what a good or bad website / link is ?
Apart from absolute amateurs, who cares about PR. Rankings are over rated too. If you're generating traffic and making sales, everything else is pointless.
Yes but i mean for example and SEO company ? ....... How would they decide which links are going to benifit their customers
I already ignore Pagerank so it won't affect me. I have a list of basic criteria that determines whether the link is worth obtaining. Number and quality of backlinks, uniqueness of content, number of outbound links, quality of outbound links and content relevant to my niche are all far more important than the pagerank of the page that links to my site. I don't want Pagerank to go away because it's a nice little red herring for any potential competitors who choose where to place links based on the length of the green bar in the toolbar.
LOL - thats true Some peple insist on putting their faith in the magic green Google fairy dust despite the evidence to the contrary.
Hi simpseo , Im glad your not using PR i think youll be a very good SEO expert . because i know many people go off PR 100% and just think how much they would fail in the SEO business if that factor went way .... one questions however .... you mention "quality of outbound links" how would you determin this without PR ? Thanks buddy
A simple backlink check and some common sense has always worked fine for me. I suppose you could always use MozRank as an alternative.
Also Google Have Dropped PR from their web master tools .. and sometime ive noticed SEO toolbars seem to get errors more frequently when trying to retrive PR
I don't think the sky would fall in - people would adapt and move in (as any good SEOer will be able to do)
Page rank has not been a factor for as long as I can remember. I have been rambling on about that for years. Nigel
When I mentioned quality of outbound links, I simply meant that I would check that the outbound links were not leading to spammy sites. Higher marks would go to a site where all the outbound links related to the same theme as the site. I don't have the time and desire to analyse the outbound links beyond a simple quick check. It's the simple things you can do that can separate you from a lot of other people acquiring links - I don't do anything above and beyond what a lot of good link builders do here and I'm sure many people who are clued up about SEO can do a lot better job anyway
