Not currently, but in the not so distant future, there will be an option to do so.

I requested, requested and requested but was bluntly turned down saying NO, Not Possible etc... :(

@digitalpoint: I would wait for that "future"...

Another great step for sure. Many of the users have been asking for this for a while.

I know this is not yet implemented but still...

Would you allow just about anyone to change username free/paid or will there a kind of manual approval (case by case) before someone can change it. The later makes sense IMO

    Best regards,

There will be a fee associated with it. Not because we want to make money from it, but because we REALLY would rather users *not* do it, but at the same time it gives users the option to do it if there some bizarre reason that they REALLY must.

It does really bad things to the DB servers for a little bit (see the info here about that). I'm making some backend changes so it's not *quite* as painful on the DB server, but there's no way around making it an undesirable situation as far as the database servers go. A lot of people changing their usernames would be very, very bad.

I fully understand the strain it would put to the DB server. What I wondering is if you allow just about anyone to change their username for a nominal price, then it might cause some problems.

Say John Doe has not been a wonderful member/seller/buyer and he changes his username it would not be so easy to identify him unless you go through his old thread or itrader in detail. Right now I would just have a glance at his username and say .. "Ahh this guys ..lets skip this offer"

So maybe a manual approval of somekind might be worth, unless you have a huge request for username change.

    Just my 2 cents :)

    Best Regards,
    MM

Manual review really wouldn't solve the problem since we aren't going to know their entire history and any beefs they have with people. It *will* leave a trail of every username they have ever had on the forum in their user profile though (see this post).

I'd *really* rather leave it so you can't change it, but I can also see where there are some (very rare) cases where it might be needed.

    It's custom.

At this exact moment in time, no... it's not possible.

Username change even for a genuine reason for $25 is a waaay tooo much since it does not come with any additional benefit to justify that high cost... :(

Exactly the point. I'd rather people didn't do it.

Not everybody want to do it just like that, some do have GENUINE reasons for requesting a change but $25 without any benefit is like having a service which screams DO NOT USE ME. . I was denied this change because "It was not possible" but now looking at the $25 price tag it shows DP is all about money.

I know the answer would be, stay or leave, we have enough members and enough money so we dont care about members, sad.

If you have such a "Genuine reason" why does $25 matter? Regarding the benefit, you get your username italicized for a whooping 90 days!! Isn't that cool? I would pay $25 just for the italicizing but I can't think of a better name.

So go ahead pay $25 for "italicizing" your existing name, since $25 is nothing and the benefit is "cool", why bother advising to others? Lead by example!

But you said and I quote:
Its easy to post and say I will do this and I can do that, lead by example, if you can, Italicize your existing name since you are ready to pay $25 just for "italicizing"
