Sub Domains and SEO, can they be used?

When I try to do a keyword analysis of content on a subdomain I set up, I just get a load of text like this:

    found 1 4.35%
    not found 1 4.35%
    port not found 1 4.35%
    net port not 1 4.35%
    found on this 1 4.35%
    was not found 1 4.35%
    the requested url 1 4.35%

Why is it not seeing my actual text content, and more importantly, will it not be indexed by Google even though I have adsense on the page?

Can sub domains be used for SEO?

Yes, subdomains can be used for anything, but I'm not sure what that analysis you have is from. Is that software that outputted that or something else?

What are you trying to do?

    Hi Voasi,

I'm trying to set up keyword optimised pages in subdomains that link back to a main site.

the focus is on the subdomain pages getting indexed well and pulling in traffic to the main site, but I'm not sure whether the SE sees them properly or penalises them for being in a subdomain etc

SE's can see them properly. They treat them as their own domains.

    Groovy, thanks. :)

My concern was raised when I tried to do a keyword density analysis on one of my subdomain pages using this tool - http://www.seochat.com/seo-tools/keyword-density/ and it didn't seem to be seeing the text content.

Must be an issue with the tool, rather than the subdomain page then.
