DMOZ is not a panacea to get you to the top rankings. But it can be helpful especially for new sites to be listed there. At least Google will get you out of the sandbox if you appear in DMOZ.

You have answered your own question as to why its not listed! : "over and over" !!! lol! Why did you submit your site more than once? How do you think any directory (not just DMOZ) should treat those that can not follow the guidelines that the agree to when they submit a site?

Actually he hasn't answered his own question because many people follow the guideline and still not get listed. He still can go to one of the freelance sites and pay for the DMOZ listing and get listed; therefore being listed or not has got nothing to do with following guideline. ;)

He can also go to a site and offer to pay and get the site banned for life. If one wants to pay to gte in is one willing to risk a lifetime ban on the site in DMOZ? I would not want to take that risk if I was that keen to be there.

He doesn't need to post the name of the site and only give the name to the winner of the job. He can also check that the person he chooses, already has sold DMOZ listings by checking their complete transaction and comment received from previous customers. ;)

Is there a difference between never getting listed and a site ban? If so, then one must weight the risks of trying to pay vs. the very good chance of just never getting listed.

Actually, you get your site banned for posting complains in this and other forums. So, I guess just a very small amount of banned sites are actually banned for bribing. The risk of being banned for bribing is insignificant.

If you got your site banned for complaints, I'd not have any listings at all. LOL.

Though, that may explain why I've not gotten additional listings ;) But then, that could just be due to no one with access having an interest in the categories I've submitted too *shrug*

More unfounded allegations with no proof offered. Even Q is willing to say this is a blatant lie!!!

Anyway; enough of Dmoz... While you wait Dmoz approval or rejection... Please name other sites and directories of equal quality (PR Rank) to submit to and get backlinks.

I wasn't talking about my site. But as for yours, you have to take into account it's a lot easier for them banning a non-listed site. ;)

Actually, there seems to be some evidence of people listing DP related sites and getting kicked out of the ODP for favoritism... so there is a ring of truth to his claims. There is also a touch of truth of it being rather insignificant for getting banned. As what really is the difference of getting banned and the average wait time for the odp? Many of the people I've seen willing to pay have either waited for years or based on their sites will be waiting for years...

That would likely be true. It does seem that once you get your foot in the door it's a lot harder to shut you out ;)

Of course, after de-listing a site they have to explain why. They are already failing to keep up the pantomime about sites not getting listed. I guess they prefer not to buy more problems by now. And save a few excuses for sites that really need to be blacklisted, from their point of view. hehe

If corporately we wanted to de-list any site who do we explain it to.

I think Q's site being listed still, and it was re-listed, shows that we list sites without fear or favour, unless you transgress rules like offering bribes.

Insults and even accusations of corruption do not stop us listing sites, I am pleased to say.

Or you list some sites just for saying "we list this site, belonging to someone who is critic with DMOZ"

Of course, I think Qryztufre sites deserve to be listed.
