Would you rather have me leave a relevant comment and a Keywork link, or move on to someone who will allow me a link for my participation?
I'd rather have you leave a relevant comment. Links are welcome, as long as they're not obviously for SEO purposes. As I state on my blog's comment policy for example, I won't mind if someone calls himself "Shady Eddy" but I will have a problem with "Shady Eddy's Bail Bonds". (I love that example.) In other words, I want to have a conversation with somebody who's willing to converse rather than promote their business (or their clients' businesses).
And that's the beauty of the web, you can run your blog however you want. I let people use keywords in comments, but only if they contribute something that is useful. I figure that if my readers can get some extra insight from one of my readers, I am more than happy to give them a link, however they want it to appear (as long as they are not competing in my vertical). I actively participate in blogs that allow me to use keywords in the name field, and they don't consider it spam at all. It's a matter of how the blog is managed. I don't judge the way you run your blog, so... There is no "right" way to do it, it's a matter of preference. Blogging is a way to express your opinion, and it should be your opinion of how you run your blog.
You can user your keyword in the name field, only the comment section has a logo for comment love. Otherwise better your provide your real name for approval.
Well, I do remove the rel="nofollow" attribute/value from those individuals who have left enough decent comments (non-spammy, abusive, and so on), though I am thinking of adding a Plugin that will list commenters' latest blog posts automatically. I think CommentLuv is the one that does that, but I could be wrong. Would you consider that to be a good compromise?
You are allowed to use Keywords in the name field, it nicely increase your keywords popularity when some boyd will search in search engine use your keywords it's possibility to come your site first in search
Some good comments here. If you are going to go visit, wipe your feet and leave a worthwhile gift. After all you are taking one away with you. Most bloggers do not mind the keyword thing as long as you are making an informed contribution to their home. Even the top IM'ers recommend this for quality back links. Good thread for the most part.
It is always good to use your name instead of keyword in commenting blogs. The message should be relevant and at least in a form of complete sentence. I suggest you test the blog owner if they are friendly with the keyword signature. Leave your name on the first comment and once approve, try to use the keyword on the other post
