yes, i was offered these too and checked them out. they are mirror sites for opensource.org and if you check the backlinks for those pages you will see that they are the backlinks for the corresponding page on opensource.org with no direct links to those mirror sites.

i also checked with the pagerank fraud tool: http://www.seologs.com/pr-check/pagerank.html which reports they are fraud. i reported it to the person in charge at linkadage where it was being sold but he couldn't come up with a definitive answer from his seo consultants.

i have seen these text links for sale at a couple of sites for $300/month for the pr 9 links and $200/month for the pr 8 links. Like ysf1 said, they probably had a 302 redirect set up at some point and then I guess they remove it showing the old pr value but I'm not exactly sure the fine details of how it works.

Well people I will advice you that dont buy links on other sites just use the simple and ethical methods for building links because Google can penalize you for link buys.

osmirror.com passes the fakepr test here:
    http://www.seologs.com/pr-check/pagerank.html

It's more probable that google is confused about the duplicate content as it's a mirror site.

Trying that with just the front page shows as being valid... what I was trying to explain (not very well) was that it looks like google is just trying to sort the site out still vs someone doing something shady. I've seen legit mirror'd sites take a few updates to shake out because of duplicated content. Wait a bit for sure.

Except if you manually search in Google, and follow all of the supposed links that give it its PR, none go to that site.

The reason doesn't really matter, all that does is that you will not get the benefit of the displayed PR8 or PR9....Instead you will get the equivalent of PR0

They 301 to the site with PR, an update happens, they remove the 301 and now they have "PR" until the next update.

Its visual PR only as their actual PR is 0

With all those crappy looking irrelevant links at the bottom that he's sold (sexy costumes, lingerie) I don't think he's going to get better treatment in future updates. Plus, since it's duplicate content, it should be headed for the supplemental index and these sites usually have pr 0 if I'm not mistaken.

On the afl-3.0 page I see 5 paid links. That's $1500/month for that page alone and he's got multiple pages. That's a crazy amount of money.
