I currently have a lot of good backlinks for my website however when I do a check on them they are all in yahoo, Altavista and AllTheWeb. I literally have none in google. So my question is how does one go about getting google backlinks?
The industry standard is based on the number of links in Yahoo Linkdomain. Trying to please google will only frustrate you. Google will still count links in their algo, they just may not show up in the serps.
Google doesn't show you all your links when using the link: operator - they say it's to prevent competitors finding your inbound links and reverse engineering your SEO efforts. Take a look at your Google Webmaster Tools account to get a true idea of your links on Google.
If you check Google webmaster tools you can get good list of backlinks. Generally Google search gives fewer backlinks.
I have heard (not quite sure) that Google does not take those backlinks into consideration that have "nofollow" attribute but other SEs like yahoo consider them. That may be one of the reason of difference.
The LINK: operator as well as Webmaster Tools (WMT) at Google BOTH show only a sample of your Google backlinks. They also show links that Google knows about but does not count (like nofollow links and links from pages known to be under penalty). Generally, WMT will show a bigger sample than the LINK: operator. But neither shows an exhaustive list.
Well, i say u have to so all the common SEO techniques, such as * article submission * forum posting * directory submission * blog * on line community * press release *social networking * link exchange * Social bookmarking * RSS Feed Regards!
