I heard numerous times "Content is king" but in real world it seems that things are little different. People say that good content will lead to more backlinks, but how many times did that happen to anyone of you? How many times did you got backlink from your readers? i guess few times or more likely never. What percent of people will actually give link to your site to someone else, everyone knows how to use Google. And when they search on google, they will probably not find you, because "content is king" MY ASS.
The answer is simple = Both. Do research and find a way to get backlinks easily. One good tip is to start a blogging template site and put links to your sites in small letters within the page footer. Every person that downloads your template and uses it on their blog, each site you put in the footer gets a backlink. As far as articles go, outsource for sure.
People will usually only link to you if you site has quality content, even when doing link exchanges. Also, your bounce rate really determines whether or not you will hold your search rankings once you get them, and if you have poor content on your site your bounce rate will be high.
Well,do you really think so?If the content is not important, how can you Keep the persons who visited your website and get the traffic next time?If the content of your website is not good or bad,the rank and traffic will be meaningless to you.
I have never experienced... links getting with good content. but the only factor why content is king is because of its use in Search engines... genuine content...with keywords always have high importance.
Having good content means it will bring back the return visitors to your site and you will have a lots of traffic.
My experience is different. My company's website holds #1 position in google for most of our money making keywords, is in a competitive market, and we never, ever, did any backlinking or seo. It was submitted to dmoz when it opened and nothing else. But it has 30 or so pages of killer content, so people backlinked to it over the years (once it was pr4, then it became pr3 after the general downgrade a couple of years ago). My wife's personal blog has over a thousand backlinks according to yahoo and is pr3. She did no backlink building, it's not a monetized site, but being a pro writer people must have found her stories interesting enough to be shared and linked to. On the other hand, a couple of sites I own whose content is nothing to get excited about require constant backlinking and promotion just to stay at the bottom of G's first page and some other never reached it. So, IMHO, content is truly king...
yes answer is both but nobody will give you back links without back link or money. This is true story. I have seen lot of websites show their web linking code but they don't want to add any return links. So they are seeking only for links. if you will give you back links or money than lot of people will agree with you. If your website is great content then this is good chance to get back links.
Content is king, it always has been and always will be. What matters is what you do with that content. A page with 1000 words may contain enough detail, but if users leave because its too hard to read then your shooting yourself in the foot! big time! The key is balance! userbility is just as important as on and off site seo factors. If you have a tone of great links and good content, BUT THE USER cant't get along with it, it won't be long till Google figures your bounce rates suck!
Having lots of backlinks is pointless if you have poor content! You need to have decent contact and get a lot of backlinks that is hwen you start to achieve great success with your sites!
I'm weary of random link-exchanges. For most of my website, I only do link exchanges with people I do business with or sites I find informative and worth my viewers time.
Well i see a lot of duplicated and autoblog sites that get many visitors because of backlinks. Some sites have duplicated content, which can be good but other have rubbish posts and stuff and get good ranking. The thing is, without doing any backlinking 90% of sites will fail. That sucks big time, i don't want to spend time on doing backlinks. This thread is here to prove is it easier to get more traffic by content or backlinks?
I know content writers who write specifically with linkbaiting in mind, and it works like a charm. You know all those top 10 lists that you see (ie. http://cracked.com [probably the most linkbaited site ever])? Well, those are written for linkbaiting, and the list style posts almost always get links back if they are entertaining enough.
I understand where you are coming from, but good content really does generate links. In fact sometimes bad content can generate traffic and links, here's a real life example of something that happened to me. I used to run a site where people could post reviews of other peoples blogs. Someone wrote a very boring but unflattering review of a very popular blogger. The blogger found my site when looking at his referrer logs and popped on over to the review site to see where the traffic was coming from. The blogger saw the review and took great offence to it, he started posting about it on loads of forums and making a real big fuss, he even linked to it from his blog. This sent me a huge surge in traffic that lasted for about a month before tailing off. So I very much believe that content is king and these days I put very little effort into link building and focus mainly on content.
both is needed but let me tell you. If your site doesn't have enough content and you keep submitting articles it becomes part of that content. So not necessary to have lots of content on your site.
It is simple ... do both Having great content and adding weekly and linking slowly, but constantly will procuce high rankings Best regards
You need both, without backlinks google won't know you exist, without content google won't pay you attention.
