What is a good free webhosting company? Can I have a free domain name too what do I want to do with it? -to start learning and practicing how to run a website, I would like to practice how to embed vids, work with mysql, and all the other script language stuff. Uploading pics, working with html and whatever other script software out there. Taking a vid from another site and making it play on your site. (I understand that it's easyer on your website's memory than to manually upload the vid on your own site) basically I'd like to baby step my way to learn how to own and operate a professional website one day. As for the domain name I dont care if I cant get it. Basically I'd like a free hosting with data base where I could upload free script software that I find, basically just start learning how to run a website. Thanks
To be honest free hosting is rubbish. just get yourself a basic package from hostgator only costs $4.95
http://webhostinggeeks.com/freedomainnames.html You can get a domain for free when you purchase hosting them. Some of the web hosting providers listed offer up to 5 free domain names or a free domain name forever when you signup for a web hosting service.
Try http://000fees.net One of the best free hosting service which also provides free sub domains for you to practice. An excellent choice. I used them during my initial days
Why do you want free hosting? If you want to develop your business, you should know the importance of invest. So you'd better build your own website and purchase hosting space to host it.A stable hosting space is very important for you and that directly determines the development of your business.
I realize that, I'm just asking for a good free hosting so I can mess around and learn by my mistakes kind of route before I start paying 5 .99 a month and I dont even know what I'm doing, right. I'm just a newbie trying to learn, it's just like when your lets say gonna learn guitar, why would you go and buy a brnad new guitar when the guy across the street has a old one that he's willing to give away, It's something to practice on
Free hosting isn't free. Learn it. Drill it into your brain. Tell your friends that and don't ever forget it. Start with and use a paid host. It's not expensive and gives you much more freedom and flexibility. You eventually will want to have your own dedicated server and when you do you'll be mighty glad you started with your own paid shared host to start out with.
free web hosting is totally not the best type of hosting at all, its totally 100% about you get what you pay for, best thing to do is go to guys like therackspacecloud they charge a couple of hundred dollors a month but your getting the ebst in cloud hosting 100% uptime and a profressional service if you go to a free host you have no right to complain when your sites down for 99% of the month
I resgistered with 00fees.net. but it seams I can't conect "smart fpt " to their server,, I even tried filezilla, just conection failed, is there a way to solve this problem or what is another free web hosting out there
if you cant afford someone like rackspace cloud loko into hostgator, proberly the ebst cheap host around, good support
You should definitely go with host gator's baby package. With you being new to website development you might run into some problems with FTP and script installation. With host gator they have 24/7 online support and will help you with everything! Believe me they have solved some major issues with my websites that I screwed up pretty severely. Also free hosting is frowned upon by search engines due to the fact the most free hosted websites are complete rubbish/spam sites. As well as learning how to develop a website you should also learn how to rank it in the SERP's and using a free host will not allow good rankings. Good luck
thanks for the feed back guys! I guess my question now is what would be the best appraoch for me to learn how to operate and run a website? I'm trying to eduacte myself on all this new script language, trying to watch tutorials
Well it really depends on what kind of website you're building. If you want to learn how to build a website from scratch it would be best to learn XHTML and CSS. If you're trying to learn scripts it really just depends. If you're into web development PHP is a great language to learn. The good news is, you don't need to know a programming language to build a website these days. You can use software like Xsitepro 2, Wordpress or Xara Web Designer/Extreme Pro 5 quickly without needing any coding knowledge. Of course knowing the basics of XHTML/CSS will help with customization or any problems you might run into. This place has some of the best tutorials available but you have to pay a fee: http://www.lynda.com/ For free tutorials you can check out youtube or ehow.com There are so many places for anything you want to learn it's ridiculous! Just be resourceful and you will have your first website up and running in no time.

The best approach is learn from mistake. You need to learn a lot of tips especially SEO and website promotion.
