wanted to know that if your site is in the top 100,000 of the alexa rank does it add any value to your site,
thesmarterfish.com is doing a report but does anyone know?

Yea maybe but dont you think if it's ranked 94,000 in the whole world it would add something to it?

No it doesnt add any value.

It is a metric that is used by some. But it is too easy to game, and is only a measure of webmaster traffic, not real people.

Some companies such as compete.com measure US ISP data and this is more valuable.

Unless you're selling direct ads or you hook up to some ad networks that look at this figure.
Other than that, I don't see much direct use in Alexa ranking.

It adds value if the traffic is genuine! Guys who say Alexa rank doesn’t matter are crazy! Try telling that to the top 100

Of course it matters, the higher in alexa the better your site ranks in the world ... higher ranking sites = more traffic.

But then again it would be better to have a medical blog with 10,000 views a day than an arcade site with 20,000 views a day so it depends on the niche aswel.

Why a medical blog? Its gives info about health while games are for people to release their tension. Unless for monetization purpose I don't see the difference :D

Money ;) A medical blog can sell medical products to the customers where as free arcade website members are less likely to want to spend money.

    Viagra > Games

It is valuable when it is ranked in at least 100 top sites... i suppose... the traffic will be high and that means more clicks..well it is a personal opinion not based on any practical experiences...

At lease the top 100? You have some very high standards, I wouldn't mind a site in the top 10,000!

Well, it would add more Traffic to your site but to get to that ranking you would need to get traffic in the first place.

I have the pleasure of working for one site that has hit 3,000 ish - we have two more that are in the top 30,000

From my experience Alexa is a great way to judge what sort of traffic volume your site is getting!

I wouldn't want to think about the server management then. My shoutbox site gets around 600K views per month and eats up to 1TB pf bandwith but its Alexa rank is only around 90K plus. lol..
