I always liked the fire icons that preceded the threads that represented "hot" threads, and I think there is value to adding a "thank you" or "thumbs up" endorsement from members who appreciate a thread, or a product or service. I think using your signature links to promote your own threads has value, and I think maximizing your profile would add value to your products and services. The problem with any method that endorses bumping is that it is just as easily exploited by the scammers and the crap sellers, as it is by the valued members. Perhaps a premium BST forum would help separate the wine from the vinegar, but it's too early to know how effective a premium marketplace would be received, designed, or desired.
Well i think it's a good step taken by dp to reduce fraud and cheating going on here. But one thing must be kept in mind that DP is built by it's free members. What would premium members do if all free ones left away. So the satisfaction of free members on dp is also necessary and it should not be compromised.
Strongly agree. Any big change in DP should consult all the members and allow them to comment on the changes, before they are going to be implemented.
I am really curious, why is it so? When someone is selling a site, domain, Vb license or anything which is sold just once then the current system is good enough for him as he can just make another thread for another domain/site etc. But for service providers like Seo, Directory submissions, articles writing where you are limited to only one thread forever, there's no way they can do good business here. Threads get buried in 1-2 days Max and they can't start another one. Signature links don't work well enough. A feature like being able to bump your thread back up after it has reached page 3 for $20 (for all members) would solve the issue. Even better premium members could be given another 2 hours of sticky time when they "pay bump" their thread.
looks cool, but tbh after being an active member for over 4 years paying a premium fee sounds weird.. and a little demeaning to see new members being displayed with a huge username. I know you probably won't do it, Shawn, but would be nice to have some kind of discount for long time members to make us feel all warm and fuzzy, I'd probably pay too then Besides this could help bring back all the inactive long timers.
After purchasing the premium membership, what happens next? Does it take the system a while to recognise the new membership? In the BST section, does the sticky option still only apply to WTS prefixes or is it being rolled out to WTB prefixes as well?
No everything is instant. I posted the links to the features a few pages back, Currently the sticky option is available only to WTS threads
Something went wrong then because I paid for 6 months and nothing appears to have happened. Who is the best person to contact about this?
Contact "digitalpoint" Did you pay by echeck/Bank transfer? Better check if the status of payment in paypal is "Completed"
Sent via Paypal and status is "Completed". I was then redirected back to DP and nothing appears to have happened.
$20??? Are you kidding me? A few bucks seems reasonable, but $20 seems way too expensive to me to be honest.
Want a nice treat for this? A thanks button, where newbies like posts < 100 can't use it (to avoid users registering to praise someone's thread) and every click on the thanks will bump the thread. The more number of posts required to be able to post a thanks, the less spammy bumps you can get. You can still offer paid bumps along with this. Another way it to make reply prefix like "Question" - "Review" . A prefix called "Review" will bump a thread since it comes from someone who actually used the service / product and has something good/bad about it. Same conditions apply, the bump only works for those who have 100 posts or any other set number. We have many brilliant minds here from around the globe. I'm sure someone will be up with a good alternative.
Shawn fixed my problem now - thanks for the help It would be nice to be able to sticky the WTB posts in BST but I'm biased because I'm not usually looking to sell, only buy.
