Hi I have absolutely no idea about SSL certificates .. would someone please spare a couple words ? Why do i need to buy one instead of just setting up one for myself ? all i'm getting is just an https url, right ? Also, what's the difference between those certificates ? For example the ones found at http://www.aspirationhosting.com/ssl.php .. they all have different prices .. so what's the difference between them and what is the "$10,000 Warranty" thing all about ? someone please enlighten me .. this is my first time ever messing with those certificates, so please speak clearly Thanks
Basically you only need this when you have business going on. I think its something to do with Hijacking via Shop cart (Insurance or Cover). I'm not quite sure but my friend only uses it for business sites.
Do not buy from this company http://www.aspirationhosting.com/ssl.php go to Namecheap.com and you can get a cheaper SSL cert for the same product. Warranty means incase you lost you biz or your info (eg credit card etc) is stolen while using SSL connection, "they" the SSLL company will compensate you up to 10k for the lost. Why SSL? SSL encrypt all the data sending from your pc to the server which means you are save from getting eavesdropped while doing transaction online. SSL not only being use on transaction but also for daily usage like account login etc so everything you do is safe from getting eavesdropped ^^.
Actually I would like to clarify that our SSL certificates are only meant to be sold to our own clients, where we will provide them with free dedicated IP as well as free installation. As such the price will be higher than a standalone certificate.
I apologize if I do look like to ruin your business but no I dont intend to do that, I'm just giving out the TS an option to get a cheaper way for SSL needs. Buy a dedicated IP form your hoster which should cost around 1-3 usd and get ssl cert from namecheap then install if yourself. 50 usd for a free dedicated ip + ssl cert should be fair enough as if you calc. the price for 1 year dedicated ip + ssl + installation fee it should be just around that.
In truth you don't need to buy one, you can setup one yourself but the only problem is that people browsing your website will see a security alert.
RapidSSL is good enough for me. I have check Versign SSL its way to expensive unless you are really need a critical SSL needs. In my opinion SSL is a real needs to gain trust for your client this also will make you client feel at ease why make a payment etc. This is not only applied to a payment gateway but for any application which need user to login too.
