forum idea, will it work?

Everyone asks about forums but nobody want's to actually put in the work to make a succesful one (Figuratively speaking). What if there was a forum you could go to and buy a category for a certain amount of money (Once or monthly?) and they had control of that category as there own forum? Do you think this would be succesful and actually bring in some traffic and money? Or do you think it would just flop over and die? Please give your thoughts on this.

 

Well i think it is a kinda nice idea.But who controls then the much categories i mean if you got more than 20 categories without a maintopic of the Forum it is very confusing for a new one^^.

 

Yea, I thought of that also. What if we put the categories in terms of niches. and then boards to those niches we sell to the members?

 

That would work but.That is really i nice idea.But you also need to have a fast server and board software caus if you sell many categories to members they would post a lot.Depending on how good all runs .

Sure i got many experience with IPB,WBB and a bit vb.I worked for some big Lineage 2 servers before and i managed their forums^^.

the ide is actually pretty nice. but to convince someone to buy a category the forum already needs to have traffic coming to it.

it is more or less like advertising... you would not advertise on a website that doesnt get any traffic.. incase of a forum.. no wud buy a category if the forum already doesnt have members on it.. there r cheaper alternatives.. and in alot of cases ppl can start their own forum.

however if you get a forum with members and traffic u got a cash cow

If you could control the contents it could really work well. Provided that your forum is somewhat popular.

its the whole cycle of how to get traffic.. i left a reply on one of the posts above or under ur post..
its more or lss about the same thing a membership site trying to get traffic.. u shud read that reply.. it should help you.. if u still need some help lemme know id be glad to give u ideas

It will work certainly if you promote the individual categories of forum properly.

It means promoting the individual categories of the forum through PPC advertising.

 

Ah, ok. Any other way of doing it for free? Just to start out with anyways....

 

I suggest you to focus on one section first. If it goes fine then move to other one.
