how long does it take to earn $$?

I just launched a site 2 days ago and I was wondering how long it takes to start earning $$ for adsense.

The first day, I've earned.. almost $2, then it declined to $0. (But my page impressions are the same!).

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this. :)

Your question is impossible to give a definitive answer and speculation will serve you no good.

However, since I've already hit post reply, I'll give some thoughts anyway ....

First, it's like a garden in a lot of respects, you will reap what you sow.

Simply planting a seed will not guarantee growth and fruition to crop. You will need to add water, fertilizer, and spend some time working it in order to reap its benefits. (Content, traffic, links)

It will also be somewhat dependent of companion planting - what do you have around it? (Good integration)

Also, different crops reap different amounts at the time of harvest. Potatoes are easy to grow (entertainment, gaming, etc) but also pay little in the end. While oranges take a little more effort (software, computers, medical - original content will work best;)) but the payoff is better in the end.

How long until you're earning $$ .... you tell us.

    Good luck!

    Very well put WRMINEO...

    The garden analogy works...

Bottom line straight up answer to your question? You don't have enough time or data to get a TRUE CTR (clickthrough rate) yet. Yes, if you roll a dice, 1 out of 6 times it will hit the number 6 (over time). That doesn't mean that it will hit a "6" on one of the the FIRST 6 times (or the second --or the third)

When you factor that in with the factors in the post above, you can see that adsense is a long term asset creating project, not a one or two day --make a buck sort of thing...

    Best

No-one can give you the answer even the big G. There are several factors you have to put together. And one big factor is CHANCE. Another is how good is your content is and how you put Adsense on your page.

Be patient. I've working my a... for 2wks. All I've got is zero CTR. I need to do a lot of research and developement for my site. Be patient...

Do you mean your income was taken away or that you did not earn anything the 2nd day after the $2 in the first day?

I have noticed that the first day you add adsense ads to your website, the CTR is very high. But as time goes by and your users get used to the ads, the CTR declines.
What you have to do is increase your traffic and also make sure that your ads are well-targeted to keep up.

Be satisfied with 0,5$ earned per day because your site is new, like you said.

With some time you'll earn 2,3$ per day. It depends on ads which are displayed
    on your site.

I've been running adsense for a year and haven't made squat.

But then again, I've only recently found this forum, so we'll see how that goes ;)

your site is relativley new so you have a long way to go before you are making a steady income from adsense , keep working on your website and your income will increase in due time.

By starting out, I mean I only have 1 actual entry but several more are coming. My question to you is...what's the potential of my website(aka blog) with time and effort?

Don't have many expectations for a new site. There are too many factors that affect revenue. Be patient and work to improve content.

anywhere from a day to forever. Just play around with ad placement and see what you can do to maximize earnings. Testing and a little trial and error

    >>> how long does it take to earn $$?

It depend on how proactive you and how much start-up budget is. You can start earning right away if you have capital to advertise on other sites. When your banners appear, visitors will start clicking the ads and then you'll start earning at the same time.

If you plant a lot of seeds something will grow, or if you focus all your attention on one seed, it will have a better chance of surviving... in general

Time put in == money received.
